Rex, Without me sounding too judgemental, with all the trouble you went with to get authentic bits and pieces, why did you paint the springs on the bonnet yellow?

I was waiting for some one to pick me for something , its a sort of yellow i took an old faded one to my paint seller and he matched it for me , same with the jack , but as i have 2 of everything like that or more i have the originals , i have 3 jacks , probably 4 lots of bonnet hinges , TREX

I stand corrected then. Were they all yellow or coloured coded on the early ones??

Jasmine Yellow

It was an LX Colour. There is a similar colour for the LJ, but not sure of the colour name.

Well its well into new year and the old torana didnt sell ,i admit i am picky who buys it but i have taken it off muscle cars as i didnt get many realy interested , they seem to think a restored one with wrong bits is worth more but to me not so car stays until i get right person , still waiting on one who paid deposit over a month ago to have a look , hopefully sell soon so i can get another car to keep me occupied , after thinking about it for awhile might look at a Lc ,LJ v8 as i havent been able to look for a suitable hatch they have been selling while i have been mucking about , will advertise next month if it doesnt sell , TREX

Well after over 2 months ,deposit payer turned up after spending quite a few hours going over it decided that he doesnt like the bumper strips and wants to get whole car repainted and wants to take that off price , also told me i had incorrect size exaust but after a bit of seaching he admitted that he was wrong , so 3 lookers first one told me has had a new guard put on and wanted to negotiate after telling me would buy ,second didnt get to see car tried to tell me i had wrong wheels and other things ,told to get deposit back , now another one wanting to negotiate ,why would you want to pay a deposit if you arent keen to start with ? I have offered to refund airfares and pay transport , and while this went on Arrimar found me a buyer but because this latest one had paid a deposit couldnt sell before he looked ,so now i have missed out ,i am now going to list it for sale around the selling sites and then on ebay later on , i have had a few from this forum interested but realy just wanting to know how much ,TREX

After you agree to paying the asking price? Lots is wrong with that IMO

Is the third one wanting to negotiate without agreeing to a final price originally? I dunno,
cant fully understand the post, might be just me.

I also reckon if you are making a purchase from "out of town" why wouldnt you lay a deposit down,
final price dependant upon inspection? Fairly incredible in my opinion, for someone to believe anyone
would buy a car from you without having had a look at it first.

I will admit some do, but gee not all that often and alot depends on car involved and
how it is marketed.

If you buy a car over ebay you buy unseen most of the time , well i have never been and looked , i admit i got done by 2 of them a 2 door from Bundy and a 2 door from Gladstone , i dont negotiate ,told him that from the start ,they know the price why try to haggle when upfront i have told them what i want and and the terms ,i am a bit flexible about transport and would pay if it is going to some one i like , It seems to me Pallbag that you are another of the forum members that likes to pick on anything i say , have i ever had a go at you ? I know when some is trying to be half smart and this is about the 4th time i have detected it from you ,same deal as with anyone else if you want to have a shot do so in a PM TREX

Yeah I can't understand it perfectly either but I believe someone has offered to pay REX's asking price and then gone and said "let's negotiate..." kinda thing. That would piss me off as a seller

EDIT: Didn't realise you posted. Settle down REX he was not trying to "pick on" what you say, he just thought that you had an objection to people negotiating prices in general. No harm in that.

Rex is this the deposit that is paid through AMC sales BEFORE they get to look at the car or even talk to the owner?
If so I would expect to neg on seeing the car.

If not and was paid after discussing price to hold the car then I think anyone would find that annoying, more so if you lost other sales.

Alright i will settle down just seemed i was getting picked on again ,most of you seem to have settled down now my turn to do same , as i said heath i dont negotiate if i say i will buy for a certain price i dont turn up knowing full well what the asking price is and then offer 10 grand cheaper cause i dont like the colour ,he agreed to the price you dont then turn up and insult someone by trying to negotiate when you have agreed to a fixed price even after i said would pay freight and his airfares , and as i had another buyer that had the money, and yes Heath i will settle down now , and had to turn him down to wait for a time waster , i am just a bit peeved off so dont have a go at me i do know the difference , yes heath i am pissed off at what has happened so to vent my anger i will go and cut up parts of a torana to make me feel good , TREX

as i said heath i dont negotiate if i say i will buy for a certain price i dont turn up knowing full well what the asking price is and then offer $x cheaper...

Yeah, I know, that's what I was saying. I'm agreeing with you - I think it's completely wrong when someone thinks they have the right to do that.

If someone paid a deposit through AMC just to see the car is that agreeing to the price asked??
I as a buyer would not think so, it is just a security measure for AMC to get thier money.
Otherwise dont give the deposit back. Thats what its for to protect the sellers interest through loss if the buyer bails on the deal.
