Original Colour or Pick your favorite ??

Want opinions on the hypothetical question of " Restoring an LC GTR but can't stand the original colour " Do you grit you teeth and paint it that colour anyway to preserve it's value? Or perhaps decide it's my car and pick your favorite colour from the 1970 colour chart ?
If you have read my posts before you would have noticed mine should be Verdoro
Green with Gold trim. Would have been great if it had been Monza blue or Indy Orange etc but when I found it I thought myself lucky & bought first and asked questions later.
Cheers
David

Yes I think it is lucky to even find a restorable car these days however as with most mine is missing the 2600S meaning no concourse anyway.
hmmm ,paint color is easily reversible ? I am guessing that was a bit tougue in cheek but hence my request for opinions.
I don't mind greens but the pictures in the price check section of a 69 LC GTR
in Verdoro green does put me off a bit .As per a comment there it looked like
army green UGhhh.

Concourse type resto's are a pain in the arse!
Sure there is the pride of having a "new" 70's model, working against that is exactly what you are concerned with... NO personal touches.
I'd say if you don't have the 2600S and concourse is not your thing....
Paint it any damn colour you want!
I would however draw the line at using a colour that was avaliable on the LC range only... Don't paint it bright purple pearl or some modern colour.
Cheers Greg..

As you no my gtr was nut meg YUK , so i painted orange
I am now piss with my self for not puting the correct colour on it
As LCboi says colour is easily reversible but its a pain in the ass.
it was a big decision for me as it had the books and correct numers /jl motor
I think you should paint it original colour but in the end its up to you
You can stil find a engine block to match the car?
I just contacted the first original owner of my one and it blew him away after
So long . the first thing he sead was is it still [ nut meg.met ] and i had to say no
He was disappointed. He has all the original paper work for my car and photos
that he kepted all this time .now i have this it has to go back to the original colour
AND THAT IS ALOT OF WORK AND $$$ DOWN THE DRAIN
PS , match its colours.. As i have made a big f---k up

Wouldn't be a disscussion if we didn't have both sides of the story.
First of all you may be pleased to know that I have a sample tin of
Verdoro green metallic which my panel beater has agreed to spray
on a test panel for me. I want to see it in real life before I decide as
pictures can be very deceptive.
Secondly if I still can't stand it I intend to stick with choices within
the LC Colour range as suggested by "82911"
Of course after I decide exterior colour it's time for choice of trim
Agghhhh he we go again . Original Antique Gold or my prefered
Sandlewood.
Isn't this fun ??? not
P.S for what its worth I liked the colour on your LJ GTR

But here is a silly question
1) Has anyone seen Verdoro green metallic in the flesh and if yes does it look ok ??
The pictures in the price check forum of a 69 gtr (assuming it is in fact the same colour) make it look like army green . (very dull)

It would be great to get an idea what the finished car would look like
in the factory colour.

Dave, if you know where to look, you can still find 2600S motors. And you also said
AND THAT IS ALOT OF WORK AND $$$ DOWN THE DRAIN
PS , match its colours.. As i have made a big f---k up
Not only a lot of $$$$ but a lot of time that your car is off the road.
I don't paricularly like Yellow Dolly or Strike Me Pink BUT if I found a car that colour, it would stay that colour.
I worked at an Open Cut mine and every vehicle there from the Cat 922C loaders, D10s, Wabco 85 tonne Haulpaks to my Hilux 4x4 were YELLOW.
Getting back onto the subject, the colour will grow on you, the car will keep its value and when you find a 2600S, you will be as happy as a pig in poo.
Regards..................Barry.
PS My signature says it all.

A bit hard to tell at present as my car is presently covered in a very faded and bodgie blue colour with only a few snipits of green left where the previous owner was too lazy to remove an item for painting. e.g under the radio aerial base.
As to the tag reading critic's I am tempted to copy a great idea I saw on an XU1
once . The owner had put his original tags away and had copies (obviously not gmh so no legal issues) made for display on the car.
As per 82911's comment " Concourse is lot of stuffing around " so I am not going
to bother. I do however want to keep it's classic look so any personal touchs
will done with the thought of "how hard is this to change back latter?"
Paint of course comes under the category of be really REALLY sure $$$$!!

Like Barry says, 2600S motors are available from time to time if thats what you'd like to do. The more stock this car is, the more it will appreciate. But having said that, like everyone else has advised, its your car. Hope u get to see this solour in the flesh soon - its really quite nice

My car is Kashmir White and although some may say it's a boring color the original painted side & rally stripes make it look as though I was in some sort of time warp!
"Cheers"

Nothing wrong with Kashmir white. I almost bought one that color with
red trim and fully restored for $8000 a few years back. Can someone
kick me now !!
Anyway I am slowly warming up to the Verdoro Green idea thanks to
the good reports . At the risk of opening another can of worms I
now have to fight with myself over the Sandlewood V's Antique Gold
trim subject.
Hmmm maybe I should just keep collecting parts and concentrate on the
body repairs.
