OK, SOMETHING THAT REALLY P'S ME OFF.

blue singlets ARE NOT called wife beaters. there shearers.

wife beaters are white ones, preferably with food stains down the front.

NEVER SHOULD THE TWO BE CONFUSED AND ITS VERY INSULTING CALLING A SHEARER A WIFE BEATER!!!!

Any bloke's singlet is a wife beater to me. The only people who call them different things because of their colour seem to be from Qld or Mount Waverly :P

A "wifebeater" is normally a white singlet (normally with food stains and a bit of blood on it too lol) but yeah, i refer to my singlets as wifebeaters..

There is a site, www.bogan.com.au or something BUT

What sort of bogan knows of or owns a computer lol. let alone how to use the internet.

I'm 14 and have a mullet, well a weak one but shes growin..

I wear wifebeaters, flannos, trackies and thongs alot. I'm considerd a bogan to my mates, but I disagree, I enjoy listening to bogan music too.
and I'm obsessed with bogan cars

so, I dunno what i am...

Still have records with all the good stuff i refuse to get rid of, and mates that come over at all hours of the day and insist i get on the piss with them much to the girls disgust.
Nice to see we are still out there

Fella's (and Kaz the boganett'e chick) as most have admitted to boganism i feel it my dutie to clear up a small issue with the singlets as it is every bogans dutie to understand his true roots (and his singlet) -- they were originaly called a Jackie Howe
(Hope this clears it up)

The Jackie Howe singlet
In the Australian wool sheds in the late 1800's life was tough. Men worked hard under impossible conditions. It was in these conditions that the Jackie Howe Singlet was born.

Jackie Howe, the legendary sheep-shearer from Queensland gave his name to the cotton singlet now worn by most Australian males. In the late 1800s, when Jack was shearing and breaking records that have yet to be beaten, he wore a flannel undershirt while shearing. The flannel had short sleeves covering the biceps and absorbed the shearers sweat. In addition, it was reputed to protect the shearers back from . . .getting a chill, something no shearer could afford.

Jackie Howe found the sleeves of his flannel restrictive so one day he tore out the sleeves and wore his flannel with no sleeves. Finding it much more useful with the sleeves out, Jack then got his mother to convert all his flannels into singlets and later she started making them especially for Jack.

The fad caught on and, before long, all the shearers were wearing sleeveless flannels. One of the manufacturers cottoned on and started making lighter cotton singlets especially for the wool industry. It was not too long before the lighter singlet became popular with all men in all industries and so the Athletic Singlet was born. That garment is still sold in its thousands daily in department stores around the world and they are worn by most Australian males.
