hey guys, jsut got my car back from mechanics, got total new front end put in, and new shocks n springs all round, runs like a dream now!
but i was looking at the height, (i put super lows in) and the left rear seems to be higher than the right rear. they both same everything in the back, so wat wud it be?
any suggestions how to level it out? or shud i jsut take it back to mechanics n get him to even it out, n not hav my car for another day?

thanks
sammy

Have a look, one of the rear springs may not be sitting right, jack the car up, put it on stands to let the diff drop down. When i do this with my car the springs are loose and you can watch them snuggle into place when lowering it again.

Cheers,
Rhys.

Call them and let them know of your concerns.
Drive it for a day or two and let it settle. Then have another look on flat ground and if your not happy take it back.

Did you post a while ago about the way this car sits?

I think Rob means when you were talking about the diff being bent or whatever. And then you brought it around to my place and I concluded it was a bit of under-par bodywork in the rear end :P

hmmmm yeah maybe that mightve been wat rob was talking bout then.
well i do know the rear end will eventually need to be done too.
just found somthing else now, the front left spring creaks wen u stop, and u can hear it creak wen u push on that side. is that an adjustment or just needs to settle in?

^ either something is loose or the spring is not in properly, im going with something loose.
Take it back, or have it inspected first by another mechanic (someone like pedders charges around $20 and you get the list) and then go back with a list of things you want fixed.

that sounds like a good idea, if i hav time i'll take it to pedders n ask. my mechanic gives me a garantee so he wont charge me to fix it.
before i said it looks like ther rear left wheel is higher than the right, well its the left side that is higher than the right. front and rear left side is higher. wud that be adjustments of the shocks or?
just gets me that u spend money to make it better n then theres something that isnt right n it shud be.

Possibly they didn't tighten the front end up with the car down at ride hieght or like said above, they didn't get one of the springs seated properly.

That was probably me.

Sammy I may be able to help a bit with this mate as I had the same problem after I put new suspension in.
My car had only done 80,000k's from new before i butchered it and still had the original springs in, all original no accidents etc.

the chances are that the problem lies with the front springs.

1. Jack the front end up and in the lower wishbone (control arm) you will see a small hole. through that hole you should be able to see the end of the spring coil. if not fix that problem first.

2. if that doesnt work pull the springs out and look up inside the X-member. you will see 4 pring type things that locate the springs. there may be a tell tale sign that these are not letting the spring seating properly, wear mark etc. if that is the case you have to bend them a bit. I used a bluntened chisel and club hammer.

later someone told me that some aftermarket spring makers use different thickness wires.

I pulled my front end out about 20 times before I found this out, drove me F*cking insane.
any questions send me a PM

well i rang mechanics today, he said just let them settle in a bit. wen goin over speed humps, go over them just a little bit quicker. if nothing changes then bring it in and i'll hava look.
im due for a service pretty soon so i might as well just wait till then n let him hava look if no change has been made.

Heres some more suggestions for confusions sake :)
The front creek is probably the new bushes tightened while the car was still jacked up instead of ride height as suggested by other forum members and if you put nolothane in then maybe they didnt put enough grease.

The rear ride height issue could be:
1. they placed the slightly taller spring on the LH side instead of the RH( drivers side)
2. NEw springs take time to settle. Ive seen them drop 3/4" in weeks from new(on the front anyway).
3. the Insulator fell out of the RH side and car is actually lower on RH (not Higher on LH side).
4. They didnt place the new spring in exact grooves of the rubber insulator as the old one and now it sits higher. If it comes down then you know its chewed right through the insulator due to improper placement.
5. The RH front spring is lower causing LH rear to rise.

Yep, I agree with the others too.... check and double check the front end first before you do anything else. It is extremely easy to have a front spring not locate correctly in the top. I've had this happen before too.

Make sure you report back and let us all know the result!

just an update for everyone.
i jacked up the car, n hada quick squiz, i looked thru the hole to see where the sprong finishes and i can see where the end of the spring is, and it does look like it not sitting right. also the back right spring doesnt seem to be sitting properly either.
the creaking is louder now, n is giving me the shits. im not 100% sure/correct but i think mechanic said he put rubber bushes in, n polythene? (prob got that wrong) where the front end mounts to the frame.
i'll take a pic of it tomorrow so i ppl can see it.

brett i was working at a house off forest rd right on the corner near the cemetary, had quick look at shubes, man thats a nice car.

You've found a couple of issues so take it back and let them be their issues. :spoton:
