The UC came out with a MC6 4 speed.

It also had a M20 4 speed.

The supra box is better than the celica box in my opinion.

bell housings are totally different, get the supra box, as far as price go its bugger all dearer but its a stronger box than the celica ....

get the box with the 3.25:1 first gear (i think thats the number) the other option is like 3.50:1 its stupid in first!

hey I did some looking and found out about 3 different types of supra boxes I will most likely get the w57

thought this was interesting

gear ratios

W55 1st 3.57:1 2nd 2.06:1 3rd 1.38:1 5th 0.85:1
W57 1st 3.28:1 2nd 1.89:1 3rd 1.27:1 5th 0.85:1
W59 1st 3.95:1 2nd 2.14:1 3rd 1.27:1 5th 0.85:1

anyway as I said The one I am planning to buy is a 57 alloy box, what do you guys think, good choice or not

cheers for the input antony

ive got a celica 5 speed thats bolted up to a blue 173 that i pulled out of a commodore but i dont know what the condition is like and i probably wouldnt trust it behind a worked 186.

Although if the celica bellhousing bolts onto a supra box then i might have something that you will be after! :spoton:

w57 would be my choice too purely for the drivability of the gear ratios.

celica boxes are ok, but for the extra you pay for a supra to get a stronger box its worth it ....

im onto my second box (first one died in my burn days) since i stopped doing burnouts though i haven't had a drama with it, thats with a 202 putting about 170hp through it.

There are also W58 & R154 supra boxes with the following ratios:

W57 1st 3.28:1 2nd 1.89:1 3rd 1.27:1 5th 0.78:1

The R154 being a bigger meaner version and hence bigger $$$.

Hi,
The R154 is reported to be the strongest, as was bolted to a twin turbo supra,
is also the most expensive,
I have a w57 that is going into a LX behind a 253,
this is the 2nd one i have done,
previous was a MG Monaro,
Ran nice and was smooth and good highway economy
I ran a w57 and a 3.08 diff,
Ran at 2250rpm at 100kph.

If you are running a red 186,
any of the w55 to w58 would be a nice box to use,
depends on the ratios,

Have a look here for ratio specs

http://www.oldholden...eed_gear_ratios

or here, these guys sell gearboxes,
I am not endorsing this place, is just an example of an importer.

http://www.japparts..../gearboxes.html

Or keep an eye out on Ebay.

Cheers
Chris.

What about the conversions using the T5 which came out behind older falcon sixes. EA onwards I think. I remember reading good things but I might be wrong
