I am just up to fixing all the years of bodgie wiring.

What was the original setup for the Battery to Body grounding in an LX V8?

I have all the original wiring for the engine bay but this connection eludes me.

Also what was the connection for the anti-diesel solenoid for the Rochester? The car had a Holley on it so the engine wiring loom has been hacked up.

I can fix the loom good as new but the tacho wire is joined to a dark blue wire that does not go back to the main connectors. It just resurfaces along the loom and appears to be for the anti-diesel solenoid.

I have identified all of the other connections as per standard LX/LH.
The engine loom has 6 connections on one plug and 2 on another.

Plug 1 -6 wires
Power to fuses box -Red
Ignition Yellow
Alternator - Cant remember-Brown?
Starter solenoid-Purple
Temp-Green
Oil Pressure- Blue

Plug 2 -2 wires
Tacho light pink
Coil resistor (yellow wire) bypass wire-Brown.

And then the A9X cooling fan control circuit for the relay came of the ignition circuit too.

Lots of fun;)

maybe this helps?

The original battery to body earth wiring was barely marginal, even when in perfect condition. It was a thin black wire straight from the battery -ve terminal to a bolt on the radiator support panel.

I can help you out with a custom made heavy duty earth cable if you want. If originality isn't a problem, I'd probably go from the battery -ve to one of the larger front bumper support mounting bolts instead of the rad support panel.

Hi Guys.

From memory, the pink is ignition +ve supply (to carby solenoid etc).

The tacho signal wire (from -ve coil terminal) is brown, as is the alternator light wire (these 2 are easy to mix up).

The yellow wire is the only one that goes to the coil +ve. The ballast by-pass is done inside the harness between the ignition switch & the engine harness plug (where the yellow & dull pink join).
