Bloody good day but too bloody hot!
Car was back on trailor quite early due to clutch problems, but heat was real bad for mph as this year had more power but was averaging around 7-10 mph less than last year.
As for Darren (RTS GUY) you idiot :fool:

I think printing it with 9,000rpm was a bit ambitious

Great day, pity about the heat, but still lots of fun.
I've never been down a dragstrip before so it was a great experience,
Thanks to whoever organised it, was there any sort of booking fee? Or did our $40 cover all the costs ?

Is there any truth in the rumour that Heaths car is a rare UC A9X development car that the HDT were working on in 1979 before they made the decision to use the Commodore in 1980 ? That might explain the lightweight floorpan, the rocket launcher exhaust and the tacho ???

Has anyone got a photo of my car on the start line ?

Cheers Chris. LOL @ Paul & Mick :spoton:

Gotta say mate... those poor quality tachos really do warp easily when you're pushing such strong G forces through the car :P
Anyone got more photos of my UC? I must admit I didn't really take any...

My highlight for the day was definately watching Darren's wheel come off when I was right behind him. (MickLX - I was the one in the Calais) Watching the nuts fly off, the wheel coming out of the guard, the car dropping and then the sparks coming off the disc, the truck blowing his air horn while swerving to miss the wheel, cars slamming their brakes on behind us, watching Darren pull over on 3 wheels and then the search for the missing wheel! :spoton:

It could of been SO much worse, but luckily no damage to any cars or truck!

Thanks to all who organised it and it was good to meet most of the forum members who turned up. My only regret was not taking my Torana up.

Cheers,
Brett

Was that Heath? I thought it was a test driver from GMH testing the "New (yet to be released) Torana" I thought that's what all the masking paint was about?

I never even saw his car out there. It looked beautiful in the pits but he obviously didn't take it out too many times or I was just oblivious to it. What was the issue with it?

wheel spin was the main issue epecially as soon as it came onto boost.

I'm really jealous now that we didn't go up for a look, but the heat would've seen us on the side of road before we even got there

Enjoying the pics and the stories (what a shame there's no pics of the case of the disappearing wheel  )

 to all who braved it!!

Yeah huge thanks to my tow crew (who aren't members here) and more importantly rodomo, as I would have been a spectator if it weren't for him. According to my calculations, he will be currently enjoying some fine brews which I provided as a small token of my appreciation for all the hard work and generosity he has given me recently.

The day would not have been even half as enjoyable if everyone from the forums weren't as friendly and pleasant as they are. Hope everyone had as much fun as me. Woulda been so angry if I didn't get a drive :P
