From memory Torananamat was residing in ACT when his car was published

This is very true but the car was most definately built in QLD - the build up to the point of having a painted rolling body with suspension and brakes was done in Toowoomba (about 5 years work)
Then the interior, glass, drivetrain, wheels and exhaust went on when living in Brisbane (the next 5 years).

My son started going through all our car mags over the week end and from the list he made from only 1 box out of the 5 boxes of mags, Mark Hayes LC 4540 was winning in feature stories, this didnt include pictures of it included in advertising.

Cal 400, INOCENT, GOT2GO (?) were also featured a few times.

Man, these discussions make me wish I was around when Toranas were younger :(

I've missed heaps of awesome vehicles, I think L8 was built before I was even born! hahaha

True Blue was built by Larry Sullivan (??? last name) in the Sydney Torana Club. He spent over $100,000 in reengineering the car. Found a link to it, you can buy it if you want:-

http://www.australia...au/muscle/70838

At this price, I believe you are still buying the car for $15,000 less than what the current owner paid for it, but that's just what I heard around the traps.

See Sydney Car Festival pics for Jason's pics of the car at the show as well.

I didn't know that that was True Blue!? I'd always heard of that car and I knew about that 355-stroker beast but i never knew what it was called.

Never noticed the gas struts in the boot either! very unique.

Not alot standard on it Heath, if it can be touched it has been is how I'd describe it. An amazing work of art.

It wasn't called True Blue when Larry owned it, I think it is somehow tied in with the new owner's business name. He displayed next to us at the South Coast Nationals, with heaps of True Blue banners and brochures and stuff. Didn't get time to see what he actually sells, was too busy sitting flat on my ass.

Yep Pat, Larry's last name is Sullivan.
Didn't cost him $100,000 tho.
He owns BDA and three other brake distribution chains AFAIK, his sone running the QLD arm.
Lots of bits cheap for him.
Looks like a few things have been added since he first ofloaded it in 2002/3 I think.

No, Brake Distributors Australia. They do all brake parts apparently. Ask Neil.
Different company to Disc Brakes Australia.

He told me straight, $100,000.00 is what it cost him and if you look at it I wouldn't doubt it, everything is quality, specially doeskin leather interior. I actually thought $100,000 was a serious underestimate when I first saw the car. If he got everything at mates rate it would be worth well inexcess of $100,000 retail and you can see it.

At the same time though, when you go to such extremes it's either a car you love, hate or are indifferent about. I like the car, but I don't know if I'd necessarily want it.

Other things come into play though like business depreciation and tax minimisation.

If you like it, can afford it, then buy it, I don't think you'd loose money, but then again, there is a very small select market for such cars and it would take time to sell it.
