Well after what seems like ages I finally have the old girl how I want it, well just about anyway. I have just had the black bits (Sills, spoiler and behind the wheel arch) repainted as well as some other bits where i had some rust removed. I found some 13" rims and some original hubcaps and put them on as well. Put on a new front spoiler. So it is looking pretty close to how it left the factory. I will only use the 13's when its on show since I have a set of 17's and it handles so much better with them. (But they do rub on the spoiler and I think its only a matter of time before it breaks.)

Looks tops. I've always been suprised when you talk about originality because on CarDomain, your car looks highly modified. It's amazing what a few simple mods can do ey?!

Thanks. My blue one with the 383 sbc on car domain had a heap of mods, this one is pretty much stock though. Still goes alright though.

Thanks for the comments. I actually have the rectangle headlights in most of the time. But the plug (The one on the round ones at present) with the park lights doesn't fit very well onto the rectangle ones so don't work properly. Because of that I didn't get my warrant of fitness so I had to change them back until i can sort it out.

warrant of fitness

For those of you over on the West Island who don't know....Us kiwis can put any engine combo in any car, as long as it is done properly. The down side to our laws are that EVERY car must have a warrant of fitness. If its older than a few years then it is a check every 6 months. They check for rust, lights are working, brakes work etc etc. No warrant = Fine and $$. Speaking of laws the boys in blue have a new one now to play with. If you get caught doing 40 km/h over the speed limit (Our limit is 1000 km/h) then you automatically loose your license for a month and your car gets impounded! I took my car to a show last weekend and it is so easy to do 140 km/h, especially when passing trucks etc.

Anyway here are another couple of pics.

The white one is a stock SL/R 5000. Its had no mods done to it or been restored and its in pretty good condition for its age.

Thanks, some people still ask me what they mean though...

Well I would love an XU1 or a HT, HG, HK Monaro in the shed as well so am always on the look out for one of those and I have recently heard of a supposed A9X hidden away in a small country town so I will chase that one up! Although I suppose there isn't much point as I ouldn't afford any of them at the moment anyway!

Magic looking color, barbados is one of my favourite with mint julep and absinth yello... That SLR looks magnificent the way it sits..

1 Question, do they come with chrome rocker covers? and if not are you gona change em back to red.. One thing i loved about my old SLR(now Tinys) was the engine bay, all stock and looked magic,,

Nice car well done mate..

John
