I just paid $400 for a shortened 9" housing and axles. and put a brand new 3.55 lsd heisphere in for an extra $600 fitted and all bearings checked/replaced on the housing at the same time fully assembled by the diff mechanic.
so all up it cost $1000 with everything virtually new except axles.
By the way i have seen similar setups go for up to $1700 depending on whether they are detroit lockers, mini/full spool ,lsd/open etc

I've seen reco detroit locker centres sell for around $1200 (providing it is a detroit locker not just an lsd centre)
even if it is only an lsd centre with 3:55 gears - reco it would be about $7/800 on its own
the housing and axles, (depending on condition, lenth , stud pattern etc) sell for b/n $500 and $1000

To give you an idea on cost involved to build one from scratch.
I supplied 9" with large tubes, cut down, plus 4 chrome moly tubular control arms, all new all bushed $800 housing only
MW billet axles $1100 with bearings, seals etc.
Gears range from $300-500 for decent street gears
Detroit locker $950
Seal kit $100
labour to set gears $250
Sandblast and paint housing, arms and centre $200
Total just under $4,000, sure its all brand new diff with richmond gears, detroit locker and mw billet axles, if I was to sell this I would get $2,000 max for it. But its good for 500HP.
If you have a detroit locker, not just a mini spool then you did very well for $1000.

hi LS1LX
yes it is a detroit locker
regards Keith
p.s. Will it be strong enough for a 5ltr injected with a T5 box & also where the tailshaft meets the diff its apparently a bigger yoke.
