Hi I am after some pictures of LH, LX's sedans in black. What do people think of torana's in black? Cons? Pros?

I had a black hatch, best looking torana I ever owned!

I guess being black, it will tend to show up all the dirt etc, so you will be cleaning it more regularly.. Depends on whether its a daily driver or a weekend special....

Might be a bit biased, but i think the pro's outway the cons...haha

I like them, they look tough, but the disadvantage is that they can't be easily seen at night and if its matt black (or gloss but dusty) then for some reason it becomes cop bait.

I wanted to paint my car black but I talked myself out of it.

black also absorbs heat, so watchout for summer in any black car with no airconditioning

The pt ^ would be my only consideration on colour, red cars are nearly just as bad.

Heres one thing I know about owning a black car, too make black cars look good you need the right mix of chrome.
Eg A black LH/X too me looks good when its got chromed rubberless bars and the stainless gutter moulds only. Add some nice polished rims and there sweet. Remember the chrome breaks it up and gives it class, that hatch ^ needs some chrome bumpers :spit:

I have had a few black cars and what a pain to keep clean.....although they look great...and if you want to know how hot they get if you can find a white and a black car next to each other in the middle of the day just sit your hands on the bonnets and compare....

If i was to paint a 4 door black it would be with the SLR5000 maskings in silver. They look good. Agree they are a pain to keep clean and unless the body repairs are perfect then it will look like something from a Mad Max scene. Also you need to consider the different shades of black availble. Some are true blacks like Midnight black and others are metallic or Charcaol shades. A very hard colour to get right.

But Everyone knows red wunz go fasta :tease:

Everyone's put forward their opinions and i agree with em.. Nothing looks tougher.. but the car's gotto be immaculate every little imperfection shows up!

The cons....

A black car blends into a Black road and people will pull out in front of you because your car is harder to see.

Heath you're a little torana picture encyclopaedia aren't ya? Nice work mate, thanks for that. For the record, after much consideration I have chosen to go back to the yellow it was before. Maybe another day will come for another project in black *Wistfully thinks Mad Max interceptor *sigh

I Photoshopped a pic of my LH into a matt black.
I can do this for anybody's car in any colour (and I will do a better job of it for you), please don't ask for gloss black cause it's F***king hard to get curve reflections right changing the cars colour to a gloss black (I could do it but it would alot of stuffing around).
I was going to make a new thread so people could post pics up and request a colour and I'll change it when I can, but I have no idea which section it would come under..

For now : -

Very quick 5 minute job of mine for you:
