Wow that video and all these story's are just unbelieveable. For 20yrs I have wanted to go to this event but not any more. I hope summernats is :gun: knocked on the head for good, this sort of publicity only does damage to our great sport/interest.

Herne I can't believe you are supporting this type of over reaction and brutal thugery and for someone who said "no more correspondence will be entered into" you are trying very hard to win over your loseing arguement.

Rod

PS...I aint a softy either.

Winning or losing does not bother me but lets say I dont take videos for granted nor as evidence, they only show the reaction and not the cause.
For every action there is a reaction.

I cant believe the sheep I am finding here.

Its easy to say I was bashed but something brought about that reaction.

Think about it or go tell someone that cares.

Apart from the piss up and the tits what is so good about Summernats anyway? How does the event differ from anything else? I have never been, just curious.

I can see burnouts at Archerfield, show and shines regularly during the year, trade stands and top cars the Brisbane Street Machine and Hot Rod show (also incudes demos of various skills etc). I can participate in cruises and events at powercruise (which I didnt find in the least bit boring at all) and any Wednesday or Saturday go down to the drag strip.

Maybe Im just getting older/wiser and the controlled, mature events are more to my liking. Getting a car load of mates to together to go to Summernats, hit the piss and act up would have appealed to me many years ago, but not now.

Re the secuity guard debate. At some point someone started something. Regardless of intoxication, if a person mouths off and causes trouble and doesnt except retaliation in return they are very foolish indeed. It is a brave or fool hardy bloke that gives an islander (or anyone) a hard time without considering the consequences. I am not condoning the action of the security guards at all, nor am I condoning the action of the twit who fired them up. At some point we must own our actions and deal with the consequences, and in this case, both parties did neither.

Maybe at the next Nats there can be a shoot fighting type of comp where anyone with a beef against security can take them on in the ring?

The event wont die, it will always appeal to someone, just not me (or many others here, so it seems).

I wonder what the other forums are saying? Might go have a look see.........

For me, apart from working there, it has been a place where I get to see and mingle with a mega amount of cars and owners from the budget builders to the elite big $$$ builders. I also get ideas for my own cars AND I get to meet up with people from all around Aust in one place every year. I have formed some pretty good friendships over the years and met a lot of people from all walks of life.

I think what I am saying is it is the atmosphere that I have always loved about the event. Since I moved west I have really missed the Nats. *sobs*

Plus I had the chance of a lifetime to be in the car when Peter Gray won his first Burnout World Masters (I think it was called then) <name dropper hehehe>

I have always said to people, go and look for yourself and make up YOUR OWN mind as to what you think of it. You cant always believe everything that is said or written about the Nats. The media will always publish the worst which are the very very small parts as well as dramatising to sell the paper/news air time.

Just because there is alcohol there does that mean you must drink it and get blotto?

I find it amusing that you rarely hear the good parts about the Nats in the media.

Go experience them for yourselves its one of those thing that as a rev head you got to do, just like going to bathurst.

as for the security issue they will sort something out for next year im sure, hopefully they will use people that have more brains than......well the #@$%^ in the video. (some trained monkey's perhaps)

After reading several forums about this years nats it seems the blokes that went had a decent time and have commented on the media beat up. Opinions seem divided about the security reaction/over-reaction. There will be an investigation where the facts will be exposed.

One common theme however is the abuse of women. Its all well and good to say "Go and expirience it for yourself" and if I were going with my male mates only I would. As Miss Big T enjoys the shows as much I do she would no doubt want to come along as well. I dont honestly believe that Summernats is the environment that she would feel comfortable in. If she were unatractive and not the sort of target for a titty flash then fair enough, but I know she would cop it. Its for that reason alone that I wont attend. I have far too much respect for her to subject her to the "Boobs" quotiant of "Blowers, Burnouts and Boobs" the Summernats creed. I dont need to go to test this either. I have seen the Brute Horsepower vids and have a fair idea of the goings on over the weekend. I have plently of mates who have been as well and they all say the same thing, its a good show, but dont take ya missus.

Besdies, sounds like the only refreshments are VB, JD and water. No XXXX, Merlot or Turkey..... I'd die of thirst :D

Just what I sort of expected, a negative response...I wonder how many more will be negative. Kinda reminds me of club life. easier to complain than think and act eh...

There's no excuse for this bit

Its good to see that some proper security guys intervene and calm the situation as best possible down by separating the two parties. Now isn't this what security is supposed to do?

You don't read too well do you!

I have already mentioned this particular incident somewhere above and I do NOT condone the kicking albeit with soft sandshoes in preference to the very hard safety boots security guards are supposed to wear. At least thats the case with the co. my son works for.

On the other hand I am 100% certain that most who got a touch up by some security guard acted in some way to provoke him. Now certainly some guards will be overzealous and there is always at least one bad apple in every barrel. The vast majority if guards there do their job well and are not glorified 'trolley pushers' Do not come crying then chances are many entrants actually provoked some sort of incident with their stupid behavior. Not all are innocent as you seem to be claiming.

I and many thousands of others have walked/driven Summernats over various years and never once had a confrontation with the guards. Why is this?? Because we are behaved is the reason. single odd incidents apart!

I have no sympathy for you because you are the one doing illegal burnouts. You did it last year and this year and lets not single you out for this, many others did it too eagerly egged on by a bunch of drunken fools who you guys play up to. You clearly know as an entrant they do not want this to happen. If illegal burnouts were not taking place then the crowd might not be so riled up.

As Tinkers pointed (who works for Chic) there is a place for burnouts and whilst doing laps is not it.

My solution is to take the cruise back to Northbourne Avenue and let the security staff pull out the cars doing illegal burnouts and send them home, not only that let the ACT Police be watching along the route and heartily book any stupid behavior. How does that grab you. A cruise is a cruise, not a burnout fest.

never been, always wanted to, doubt I would ever bother now.

If some fool stopped my car until my misses flashed her gear, it may be sammy newman time.
to stand around and watch a mate get a touch up for nothing, there the soft cocks.
guttless, pick on the little pissed guy rent a-cops.

the second security guy in the video looked like he was going to give the guy the boot until he noticed the camera, then raced over to look like he was helping.
what a jock. looks like the camera saved this guy from hospital.
maybe even saved some panel damage as these guys used his head as a wrecking ball on the cars in the car park.

my 2cents worth
