when i got it it had a stock 173 red motor and did me for a year untill i decided to build something with a bit more go.
its running a fully rebuilt turboed 202 blue motor to4 strata kit 20psi,turbonetics exturnal waste gate with screemer pipe, 2half exhaust(needs upgrading) ported head, roller rockers, mild cam,650 double pumper holley, locked dizzy, crane fireball elec ignition, water methonol injection, backed by a supra 5 speed.
best et down the strip is 14.0 at 100mph but since changed from 2.7 ratio to 3.08 locked centre and put the 650 on so should run mid to high 13.

Good work !

Love the engine stand. :spoton:

I notice the oil return line for the turbo enters the sump at a very low point (below oil level ), have you had any problems with turbo bushes or oil leaks with it like that ?

nice looking car you have there, love the old sprintmasters.
As you said, the exhaust could do with an upgrade, go for a 3" minimum, mandrel bent, from the turbo back, straight throught muffler and you will notice quicker spool time due to less back pressure on the turbo, as well as better fuel economy, and of course more power.
sounds good cobber, the v8 car mat be all good, but the turbo 2 door is more interesting imo. good luck with it all
cheers simon

LOL am I the only one who has noticed the 'dB drag racing' sticker on the back of the laser? Does that mean the competition is all about who can get to the loudest exhaust drone the quickest? woooo highest decibels yeah!

hehehehehe sorry I couldn't resist. Bloody ricers

Welcome to the site, i love the car, bet it goes like stink too. I think some different wheels would really make it something a bit more special :)

hey guys picked up a hilux diff converted to torana the other day 30 spline, 3.7 full spool and nothaleen bushes all brand new not used for $1000. :spoton: its currently 20mm longer each side than the standard banjo drum to drum, plan is to get it shortened 4" each end (does this sound about right?) and run some convos 15 x 8.5 wide 3-3/8 backspace, square tub it and install coilovers. The hilux diff has 11 inch drum breaks where as the banjo has about a 9 inch drum. Would this be suitable for a 308 conversion or wil i have to convert it to disks some how? I have got hq disks for the front. Also what backspace is corect for the front rims, 4" convos come in 2-5/16 and 1-3/4 backspace which would work best does the hq disks change the ofset at all?

yea mate thinking about it, want a change, more power :D i came accross this torana^^^^and it was to good to pass up for the price so i either gota do somethin with it or get rid of it so im plannin on swapin the bits ova into my green 1. for now thou im atleast guna put my new diff in and get some new rims to change the look abit. the 202 needs abit of work the turbo oil seal is leakin causing the motor to blow heaps of smoke which will cost $$$$ to rebuild the turbo also needs a rear main seal so gota decide wether i want to spend more money on the six or go v8.

If you end up fixing up the six,i would suggest moving the Turbo oil return to "above" the oil level if you have the motor out.

I suspect the restricted oil return would be the main cause of your Turbo oil seal failure.

Yeah the nolathane do tear apart, usually better to use standard rubber bush in the housing & then some softer grades of bushes in the rear control arms...I used super pro,was a softer grade so the ride wasn't too harsh.

While youre at it,add a plate to brace up the lower arms, reduces them flexing.

What width did the diff get narrowed & what width tyres you using?

Hi Dean

Now that looks very tough, where abouts in TSV are you?

Did you weld the mini tubs yourself?

the diff length is 1175 rim to rim and thats with 8.5 convo pro with 3-3/8 backspace 265 50 15 tyres. and yea ive boxed the rear trailing arms aswell. thanks simon im in condon, a mate an i welded the tubs with his mig, not the best welds just cleaned them up with a grinder and seam sealed them. think im guna hold on to the six for the time being still havent 100% decided wat i wana do with it yet lol.
