Hello has anyone seen a Rochester Quadrajet where the fuel inlet is on the side instead of front?

Every Rochester I see on Ebay has the fuel inlet in the centre at front of carby. Are the GMH part numbers somewhere on carby? Was the Torana Quady Australian made?

Thanks

There are many Quads with the side inlet feed,
There is a number stamped on the side of the carb
which runs from the base up.(on the centre body-if that makes sense??)
Post those numbers to have the carby identified or post a pic.

Cheers Louie

l believe that pre pollution cars were fitted with a Rochester that had the fuel line enter from the side, pollution carbs had it entering from the front. Not a definitive guide but it maybe useful

Um, yeah. Didn't realise till I got a carbie kit that there is like over 40 variations of the Quadrajet! I can look that number up for you in the Quaddy book. Be back to ya shortly.

Sorry book has all the Quadrajets, even the Varajets, but doesn't tell ya how to identify them!!!! Interesting they show a pic of a side feed fuel one, but it's post 1985.

Louie is the carby expert round here. I's still on my L's.

Hi Louie,

that number 7000193 is on the black plastic dial on side of carby. The actual number on carby is 17059595 after doing some searchimg on the net I worked out that my carby is a 1979 Rochester.

How do you figure out if its made for Holden & do you know what the letters are on back from A - N its like a table & certain boxes have been hit with a punch?

thanks

Garry

If its got a side fuel inlet its an early rochester like the 308/327/350 monaros had, the HJ's and Toranas got the later Qjets with the inlet at the front, these are a dime a dozen but the early ones are hard to find and if the right numbers worth $$.
