I didn't think they would go that big...its the biggest bore I have seen in a red 6..has anyone had any bigger?

i guess if it runs OK why worry?well it didn't get hot on the way here and its only got a 2 core in it..it doesn't have liners...its a bit of a freak.

That was three questions, not one. It sounds like he bought the car with the engine already modified. Some people like to modify small motors for rego or insurance reasons.I have a question, why take a 186 block and put a 202 crank in there? Why not just use a 202? Did you get the mains journals on the crank ground down to fit in the block or did you line bore the block out to fit the crank?

I asked the exact same questions of the bloke I bought it off..but he was only going on hearsay. As far as I can tell it was the crank that was ground.
He is a mechanic and got it when another bloke couldn't pay his bill.

I think the 179/186's are more likely to accept this.
You also need to make sure that the bores are dead vertical and centred.
But saying this, at 80thou, you only need the engine to hiccup once and the bore wall will peel back like cellophane.
210s were very common in the 80's, but either bad experiences or more interest in V8s has seen them disappear.
