Oil Filters For Holden 6.. Small Vs Big?

Was just wondering if there would be any issues using the small type oil filters as used on vn v8's on a Holden 6? I think they are the same thread pattern etc?
Or would bigger be better?

Some people have told me that the small filters help with getting oil pressure quicker as it doesn't take long for them to fill up.
I am sure someone can give a technical answer, but I would imagine the small filter would be ok depending on engine condition, if its a older engine and dirties the oil alot quicker, you might want to go for the big filter?

What is an anti drain back valve?
It stops oil from draining out of filter and oil galleries when the engine is shut down and aids quick flow of oil to engine on start up. Not all filters require anti drain back valve due to the construction of the engine.
FWIK Z30's don't have this feature, but the small VN type do.

This is why I investigated an alternate filter, and now use the VN type which fixed the issue - which I'm guessing was the oil draining back from the filter to the sump and the oil pump getting air pockets.
The absence of an anti-syphon valve for a required application will result in delayed oil flow to the engine upon startup.
This effect, often referred to as dry start causes abrasive wear and bearing damage. Repeated delays in oil flow to the vehicles engine, can ultimately result in engine replacement.
Thanks UC Hatch, this extract from your link seems to prove this is correct.

Oh dear Rodomo, does that mean your social status doesn't allow you to go into cheaper stores and that you would prefer to pay a much higher price for the same part at Autobarn or Repco?Yes.Never had a drama with Ryco, but I've been buying the Valvoline ones lately....

I'm not a tight ass, I can't see the point of putting on an expensive oil filter that is going to do, EXACTLY the same job anyway.

I would rather run the larger filter, cause i feel it would not clog as fast as the smaller filter.
