What can I say, I love the Sandmans. My Great Uncle (who bought at least one new Holden every year) had a yellow and green Sandman. From memory the yellow was HJ and the green was HX. Very nice.

I bought it becuase I got it fairly cheap & because they are getting really hard to find now in good nic I thought it would make a good investment. When was the last time you saw a good Sandman on the road?

Yeah, you don't see too many around these days, a bit like an unmolested SLR5000, getting rare.

Sensational looking Sandman!!! I hope you get more than twice the enjoyment over the $$$ you spent on it. Great find and great read!

Cheers,
Brett

Red, from the photos you have seen what do you think it's worth, with the original decals placed?

hard to say, I mean, like you say you don't see many good ones around and rarely for sale. I think they would have to be upwards of 20 grand surely? I think a good original 308 manual say HZ in good nick would have to be up there with the SLR's or close to, just my opinion. I used to see plenty around cut down into utes, mind you, I'd love an original Sandman ute. I think I have the HZ brochure somewhere

The HZ's were the last & therfore the best. Dropped the 6 cylinder altogether. 4.2's were standard plus they had the dual front headlights/front spoiler & RTS. Like you said extremley hard to find nowdays. Might hang onto for a while & see where it goes money wise. Learnt a hell of alot since buying mine. Can't believe they how rare they are now.

Hi Hux. Thanks mate. yeah its a genuine sandman. 308 but doesnt have the original engine. Have just got the GTS wheels reconditioned and then itll be the suspension and painting. Also got a 253 SLR and another HZ 253 sandman to restore so its all a matter of time and money... And priorities sometimes too! Great to see them start to become a bit valuable and popular again though.
