My last auto blew up and has now been fixed. I just wanted to check all boxes and make sure I'm doing everything correctly.

What is the full and correct procedure for filling a turbo 350 with trans fluid.

My understanding is the following method.

1. Fill dry converter with half a litre of ATF before fitting to the trans.
2. Once installed fill with approx 4 to 5 litres.
3. Run engine in neutral until at operating temp then run through all gears.
4. Place in park and insert dipstick within 10 seconds of being put in park.
5. top up slowly as required and repeat proceedure until at full position on dipstick.

Anyone do it different. any advice appreciated.

cheers.

my procedure is something like this:

1. as you say fill converter when fitting
2. fill gearbox with 4 liters
3. start the engine and run through all the gears, staying in each gear for a good 5 secs, then run back up through each gear to park.
4. check the oil level with the engine running in park till its within the required spot.

i don't think its such a big deal if its over full but if its too low thats when you will start running into problems.

if in doubt, speak to a trany specialist.
