I contacted Chris Bowden about this. They took the 78 05 car to Goodwood last year and it blew head gasket while there. The car stayed for about a week and is now back in Australia. I'm sure somewhere the story has been mixed up. A couple of other things, HDT A9X's had a set of gauges that covered the original instruments, so there would be no way to read the original speedo, which wouldn't register anyway because it's not connected.

I seriously doubt HDT would just leave a car behind in England just because it blew a head gasket and I have no records of them ever attending the event and I can't find anything about an A9X in the museum there. As far as I can tell, there is no museum at Goodwood itself.

This hatch has my vote...
I am not normally not a fan of yellow, but this car is drop dead gorgeous, it is just perfect. :spoton:
This car has swayed my view of yellow hatches. OUTSTANDING !!

Anyone got pics of VEE-308

I've only seen once small pic in an old Street Machine somewhere in the back (not a feature) but I'm sure it would have been featured.

It looked hot, orange and black with blown engine, no flares, VEE-308 NSW plates

My old Gun metal LX Hatch is one of the best and gun barrel straight hatches I have ever seen. Bought the car rolling less engine and trans in 1990 off a guy called Paul Edwards here in Adelaide for $5700 who ran a hot 350 in it.

It was virtually a brand new car that had been fitted with several NOS panels and several other brand new parts. The interior was standard SS rear Herringbone seats, SS door trims, a pair of 2000 series Recaro Seats trim matched to the rears. An original SS dash that had a monster Moroso Tach fitted in the recess where the standard SS tacho was. The dash was painted also in the cars color.

The car also featured a custom wiring loom which was neatly housed in a tin lined glove box. An MSD 7AL2 was also fitted to the side of the passenger kick panel.

The car was featured in Street Machine magazine page 155 December 1989 issue "Aint Misbehaving".

I replaced the Weld Wheels with a set of Bob Glidden Drag Stars, had the chassis rails trimmed, and had the engine bay touched up prior to fitting a 427 Big Block.

I have never driven anything like that car since and have wished I kept her instead of selling it to help finance a house :furious:

If I had a scanner I would post a pic of the Street Machine feature. :spoton:

Oh and I have since located the car sitting in a garage in Adelaide but the present owner isn't keen to part with it

Welby: Guilty as Charged!! I've got a thing for flared hatchbacks with balls!

Marty: The owner/builder is one of the nicest guys you could ever meet, He really went out of his way to help us out for our special day (As heaps of people have!!). THe car is an absolute weapon, and seeing mine and his cruising together like that really did fulfil a dream of mine!

I'll get some more pics sorted, and Just another Wrap to Jason from motorsportfotos.com who was also kind enough to come out in the blazing sun and do the photos of us AGAIN! If you ever need photography.. Especially Cars.... Jason and Jade are your peoples!

Cheers!

This is my UC hatchback faultless body wise been garaged all its life 1 owner it has 15x7 bathurst globes fitted to it really sets it off. Standard rims when they are on really spoil it so wheels make all the difference...

Just a reminder people this isnt a for sale thread. If you have something for sale use the template and put it in the correct place!

Max's SS is Ultra Blue, I'm fairly sure...

Was a magazine prize car or something back in the 80's/90's, I think...

Your right Tim. Max's SS was given away through Street Machine magazine over 4 years ago. Did'nt win it but purchased it some time after. Colour is Ultra Blue.

As far as the marry question...i'll ask my wife....she does sometimes consider I think more of the car than her.
