I like this thread it is very informative.

rory those rubber mounts look like they would be the go, what did you do with the earth wires that normally mount to the radiator bolts, still bolt them to the same place but on the body side?

Generally I wouldnt be earthing anything back on the radiator, but do a strat current test when warm to check.

Some tech articles recommend grounding the radiator and others recommend you do not ground the radiator. They all agree that you must use appropriate coolant and test for stray current regularly using a multimeter (see Nulon document ) or dedicated device (Koolit Indicator). Apparently brass/copper radiators are also susceptible to stray current corrosion.

KOOL-IT Electrolysis Indicator

So, why are we seeing more stray current related radiator failures these days? A good example of how
modern radiators are so vulnerable to stray current corrosion is that many of them are attached to the
vehicle by their plastic tanks, or are insulated from the vehicle chassis by rubber mounts.

Nulon Facts Sheet

Take electrolysis, for example. Before the days of front wheel drive and transverse-mounted engines, cooling system electrolysis was a rare occurrence. But today, with most cars and many light-duty trucks featuring electric cooling fans in conjunction with ungrounded plastic-tank radiators, cooling system electrolysis is becoming a frequent problem.

http://www.radiatorr...m/electrol.html

Early on, when electrolysis first cropped up as a problem in cooling systems, many mechanics attempted to solve the problem by grounding the heater or radiator in order to "collect" any stray voltage and route it to battery ground. But mechanics soon discovered that grounding a heat exchanger to "collect" stray current merely accelerated the damage to the heat exchanger.

What fans are people using? Is there anything like the AU style that does not have to be butchered

No VS radiator just fits in. but got to trim the radiator support a bit from where the old six radiator bolts up too.

The series III were ally, and are slightly different to the V6 rads, one being 35mm thick compared the V6 25mm and the v8s have a larger 38mm top fitting.

The radiator has plastic tanks with an alloy core and its from a series III vs v8 auto.
RORYM--- ill try and get some pics up tomorrow. no welding needed just made up some brackets and bolted it all up. VERY tight fit but works really well..

I see you are also running a V8, which explains the fans behind the radiator.

IMHO you can't fit nothing other than the standard engine fan between the engine and radiator with a Holden 6 in an LJ. My electric fan is on the front.

What radiator hoses you running.
I dummy fitted a vs rad in mine today as my commy needs a new rad and the torana ones are too short.
