Hi all, now that my baby is in the drive way,
I thought I'd post a couple more pics.

I've included the factory aircon' shots, and was
wondering if anyone knew what the 'dongle' hanging
off the radiator was? Not sure if its vacuum or electric?

So to date she's had a good wash, replaced the stuffed bumpers,
put in a new tail light and fixed the broken hatch hinge.

Drove off the transporter and down our steep driveway. Brakes work...

What's this 'dongle' on the radiator?

Hope you like 'em.

It's the switch for your thermo fan. That green wire thats screwed to the radiator support should go to it. Looks like your thermofan currently comes on as soon as you turn the aircon on right?

I will be keepen' the 13 x 6's for a while anyway..

Have been bidding here and there on 14 x 7&8 hotwires.
I do like the hotwires.

------

Thanks Red' for the advice. I will look at that green wire again.
The thermo doesnt come on at all, even with the air con on,
but I havent run her for very long. The air con needs a regas
I suspect. Hopefully a new compressor wont be needed.

I showed a neighbour who said it cant be regassed as it is illegal
now, so I will need to change the compressor to suit the new stuff.
Hopefully that isnt the case, but if so...

After speaking with SLR5000 about your judging at Rumble on the mointain,
I am keen for you to see this baby and give it a once over to see what
is not meant to be there. As far as I can see its pretty genuine all over!

Thanks for the interest guys.

Cheers, Leakey

Yeah mate you won't be able to regas the aircon like that. It is the old style gas (R12 I think) and new gas and fittings are R134A. That means it'll need a new reciever/dryer, two new style fittings screwed onto the old ones and then a regas. We do this at work, it's called a retro-fit, usually costs somewhere around $300. That's if there are no holes in the lines and if the compressor isn't shagged.

Nice to see an unflared SS with stripes. You may think she needs a bit of work but strangely enough in the current condition she will turn lots of heads and bring smiles to lots of faces. Keep the memories alive. I am amazed how good the driverside stripes are. The originals had a life expectancy of about 7 years and most didnt last much past 10. They were silk screen printed. I have seen a few last much longer but only as a result of the car being kept out of the sun.

Hey Leakey

mate, it's amazing what a wash will do!! A little bit of a tidy up and you'll have a top looking SS there..

So are you looking at keeping it as original as possible?? I know that those mags look like the ones that were an optional extra for the Torana's. The only thing that they are missing is the original GMH caps..

I can tell you that a 3.3lt, 4 spd?, with air would be very RARE in stock condition..

So how many k's are on it??

anyway, it looks great

cheers
Mick

Thanks Mick, she has 264K on the clock and runs well.

No noisy tappets etc, no smoke. Must have been reconned
at some point I'm sure. Although, if you do the sums, she
has only been driven for 24k's a day since new!!!!

I am getting a little nervous about getting the aircon
up and running. Was hoping only to regass. My money
will be going in to the rust repairs first up for rego'.

-------

Are you happy now Torunya!? She has a good home.
Found some SA hitch hikers in the doors. Black with red
stripes and well fed!!! Nothing 8 cans of surface spray wont
fix!!!!!

Yeah and as for the rain thing.... funny how my arms hurt
so much and my hands blister up when it rains like that!! LOL.

Cheers, Leakey

lol i have redbacks who have taken up permanent residence in my bumpers, there that big the only impact a can of surface spray would have would be to throw it at them lol
