I'm confused (so what's new they all say!). Doesn't the A/C compressor sit on the bottom left side of the motor above the oil pump, not on the alternator side?

maybe thay have different types of brackets cause years ago my 253 slr had i think dealer fitted air. the big black a/c delco compressor sat in the middle and also seen the smaller silver alloy ones fitted on the left hand side.

^ your right. Shoulda checked the GMH Manual. Six's are on the left, V8's on the right. There is a secondary bracket not pictured, half moon sorta shape.

Sorry, scanner is broke, so can't scan it.

Sorry to thread steal, but interested in the difference between 6's and 8's aircon setups.
In the LH which I have the manual for both the 6 and the 8 had the hose fittings for the condensor on the right side going (with the hoses going over the rad support panel), which meant the aircon hoses in the 6 went on a longer route across/round the top of the motor.

My Uc has the aircon hose attachments to the condensor on the left and what looks like a factory type hole for them to go through the rad support panel rather than over the support panel. I know my system was not fact fitted, does anyone else there have a UC(or the fact manual on a/c) and can tell me which side the hoses are on with fact system?

Aren't these brackets the same or similar to an early Commodore? I have one that I fitted to the R/H side of a previous LX 308 I owned. I got it from a wreckers who said it was Commodore.

Trav, this is the Commodore bracket I used on my LX. It's different than the one REDA9X has shown. The alternator is mounted to high up. If I remember rightly the alternator fouled on the chassis rail or the splash shield causing heaps of trouble getting the right tension. Couldn't find an original one so this had to do.Hope this can help.

I spotted one at the Ballarat swap meet sitting with some std Torana V8 brackets. I didn't enquire about it as I no longer need one. Maybe some one watching this can help!
