Hi Folks

The rear crossmember on my car mounts directly onto the frame on each side with two bolts after passing through a rectangular spacer about 1/4in thick. There is no rubber dampening (except under the extension housing of course).

I notice on eBay an LC LJ crossmember that appears to have metal and rubber devices on the ends of the crossmember. Is this peculiar to all LC/LJs? Is my car supposed to have this type of mounting?

Any help appreciated

Just pulled the gearbox out my LC and mine where metal, welded to the crossmember.

Cheers

Does anyone else have a comment on this issue? It has me puzzled - perhaps it has some bearing on why my gearchange rods occasionally hit under the floor in the tunnel?

Any comments welcome

My crossmember just bolts straight to the chassis rails, no spacers or rubber mounts at all. I never had a problem with linkages hitting the tunnel?

This is exactly the same as my 6/72 GTR, later cars have a wider crossmember,
the one i took off my parts car, auto 3/70 LC, had the rubber mounts on either
end, i'll check the parts book and get back to you

Thanks everyone - I guess that's the definitive answer. Outer rubber mounts are for use on autos. The eBay one had me puzzled because he specifically mentions for use with Aussie 4 speed.

Perhaps one of my gear shift linkage rods has a kink in it.
