I would be very interested to know of any interstate freight companies who could possibly transport a set of extractors and an exhaust system (which is in sections), from Melbourne eastern suburbs to NSW (Sanctuary Point, 3 hours Sth of Sydney).

I did call Concord Park Transport who are listed in the sticky for this reason, but they weren't the slightest bit interested and said to try a smaller freight company.

Any ideas before I hit the yellow pages??

I would speak to Parts Direct in Hallam. Just do a white pages search.

Speaking of interstate freight companies. I was wondering if anyone knows of company that would transport a car from Tasmania to NSW.

Yeah thanks. If your car goes on that ship, you have too be with it, and i dont really want to travel on that again (first and only time i had 12 hours of sea sickness)

I just want a freight mod too pick it up in tas and i will get it from the docks in sydney.

Just do a Yellow pages search starting at the Tasmanian end. I think you will find TNT has a branch in Hobart.

830hp - Thanks heaps for the link. I've spoken to vicfast and it looks like we have a winner! They're happy to pick up and deliver door to door, and cheap as well! Will let everyone know how it actually goes, sounds very promising though.

Cheers, much appreciated :)

LXCHEV,

I can very highly recommend VicFast transport. I have used them on numerous occassions from large boxes of car bits to extractors and have found their service to be 2nd to none. Very helpful staff and the delivery driver in my area is a very cheerful bloke and nothing is a problem to them.

scooter :D

Awesome, great to hear scooter & lakeside!

Quick question for you both - how carefully do I need to package my stuff up? I am sending a pair of 4-into-1 extractors, as well as a twin 3" exhaust system, plus 2 mufflers (bolt off separately). (Melb to near Sydney).

Do they seem to be pretty careful with handling the goods?

I was thinking of going crazy with bubblewrap for the extractors to really pad them. Should I also be trying to fit them into a box? The other parts are not as bad, but I will still bubblewrap or something...

Would like to hear your thoughts.....

Many thanks.

lxchev ,

wrap goods in bubble wrap or put into a box or wrap in cardboard.

courier drivers are only human and could accidently drop and freight does move around in trucks and trucks hit pot holes etc . packaging is important .

dont forget to address goods clearly , best with a black texta and better on A4 paper then tape address to parcel so it doesnt fall off .

cheers

Ok a quick update on my dealings so far with vicfast - I've been more than impressed. I annoyed them on the phone 3 or 4 times discussing everything, and quoting everything up, and every time they were extremely helpful. My original estimations of both size and weight changed a bit once I had actually packaged everything up and weighed it all on some scales. I'm still very happy with the price though:

To pickup from my door (Melb) and deliver to the other guys door (near Sydney) was only $75. This was for 3 packages weighing a total of 35 kg's. A MASSIVE box containg 4-into-1 extractors and some other stuff packed in with them, a 3" twin exhuast system (all one piece) which I bubblewrapped like crazy, and also another medium size box. I reckon that's an ace price. I couldn't even drive one way to Sydney for that price.

The goods are currently on their way, so we'll soon find out how the second half of their service turns out!

Thanks again for the advice with this, much appreciated :)

That is really cheap mate, glad you found someone good!

If you havent aleady, could you please put their details into the transport sticky at the top of teh general section? I know they could get alot of work from the forums! I wonder where they have depots??

Cheers!

Tiny - 830hp has already added their website into the transport sticky, so that's taken care of. As for their depots - not totally sure, but from what I could gather, they definitely have something out my way (Melb eastern suburbs), and another one around Sydney. They said the goods would have reached Sydney the same day they were picked up, but could then take a day or two to be filtered down to the more rural areas.

Either way, stoked to find them, will certainly be using them again in the future.

Well folks dont use xxxxxx. They picked up an item I bought off a member of this site and thats the last I am aware of. No answers to emails, Nothing! Going to Dept of Fair Trading on Monday and NSW/SA Police. Far as I'm concerned its either poor business practice or theft. :furious:

Please do not mention company names bad experiences on a public forum as the forum will be liable.
Those that wish to know the place, PM for details.

Thanks Tiny, will keep you posted.

Needless to say I'm not a happy camper at the moment. This has put the engine rebuild on hold as well.
