Guys and gals

Can anyone tell me what the black out behind the rear wheels of an LX 5000 should look like? I have looked at several pictures and they are all slightly different. Mine follows the blackouts from the door decals on a horizontal plain. Others seem to be tappered at an angle rising slightly at the rear. If anyone knows exactly how they were from factory I need to know urgently.

Cheers

Gerry...

The pics in the original sales brochure show a very slight taper from the rear bumber back towards the rear of the rear wheel arch.

That brochure shows it up higher. Gerry's old one was mid bumper, that catalouge is near the top of the bumper. Here's the other shot of your old one Gerry, flatter. Seems to be just the height is a bit different.

Craig

You're a legend. That is excatly what I was after. I searched high and low today and couldn't get a picture as clear as that.

Pat, I have already sussed my pictures out and given them to the painter. I just wanted to know how accurate they were. I will adopt the original theme.. Mine was very close but not perfect. At the moment it looks very mandarin and shinny. Very nice job! Should be ready for shannon's.. :D :D :D :D :D

thanks guys!!

Will probably need to confirm against a few sources. I wouldnt take the brochure as gospel. They definitely made changes from what was in them pre release.

Try this, I've oriented them the same. Yours looks pretty spot on. Notice the bumper bar isn't even on straight in the add. Compare the angle between yours and the ad!! Hopefully both pics are the same size as well.

EDIT: Was a bit dark, lightened it up a bit. Also note it's a rare Left-Hand Drive model.

Something doesn't look right about the 'SLR 5000' insignia in that left-hand-drive model, Pat :P

Looks the goods. Just out of interest, where does the black/white transition happen behind the back bumper bar? Can you duck out and have a look? I think it is on the fold/crease in the metal behind the bumper.

Oops, forgot, nice car Duck05, I like that. As much as I hate white cars, the LX Slurry looks pretty damn good.

It must be remembered that these were painted by people and the line could be higher or lower if you compared different cars, but in saying that they probably went off some kind of body feature as Yella was saying so they would be close.

I actually have copies of Holden engineering dept paint specs for the GTS stripes on HK monaro's so I would think that even though they would have been painted by people working in the factory they would have LX slr spec drawings and quality control to keep them all pretty acurate.

Yella,
Had a look pretty hard to see because of how tight the torrie is in the shed but from what I could see your right the blackout goes right across the back and the transition line is under the bumper almost right on the crease or fold.
hope that helps

Regards
Duck05
