My LH was built in Dec 75 and I purchased it in late Jan 76. This was the change over period between LH and LX. I still have the car and retained it without molesting. It has been noted above that there were many differences within the models depending on the time that the car was built and governing regulations. For example, the wiring harness in my engine bay is similar to the LX in that it runs over the inner guard. Early LH had the wiring harness run behind the bonnet hinges.

The early LX was using up LH body components. For example, the bonnet was double skinned at the front section, the boot had the inner support panel across the rear light section including a support panel below the lip of the rear quarter panel where it joins the boot, the engine bay was painted black, just to mention a few. There are many cosmetic and mechanical differences even within the same model, for example pre pollution, RTS, the 3mm steering wheel spokes.

Good luck to any one who wishes to document the differences between the LH and LX. Before this can be achieved one needs to identify the difference within the same model. I guess thats why we love these cars and there is always something new to learn.

I stand corrected.

Had a look around the boot area today and noticed the following:
antenna position

antenna hole

The antenna on mine had been moved to the front guard.

gday Arrimar, yep thats the same as mine, mines welded closed to. i have no aerial at present, but may put it back in rear qtr. dr terry, thanks for the explanation on locations of aerials, makes perfect sense. i have heard electric aerial assemblys as used in hq, lh were also used upto wb, the same type. do you know if thats true, as it would be easy to find a good s/h one. that is unless i can buy a new one of course, cheers gary.

I always used to just lift the bonnet and see where the front brake hoses went thru the inner guard.

LH the hose junction between steel and flexible was at the inner guard. LX had a seperate bracket under the inner guard and a grommet in the inner guard where the steel line passed thru. Maybe this change was mid model somewhere but it has always worked for me ????

True, except for the front drum brake one's where the solid pipe goes down to a bracket on the front of the cross member.
