My mate bought his SMP LJ from Brisbane around that time for about $8k I think. It was then sold twice more and wrapped around a tree. His didnt have the original engine fitted but came with a JP block.

Sorry I added music to this clip... Was back in the day when I first bought a PC and thought it was cool to edit my VHS-C movies and add music.

The plates fitted to this car were for the recent sale as this was his final drive before the new owner picked it up.

Previous plates were 00KIL

Thinking some more now... I think he might have bought it around 2000 from Brisbane. He drove it home. Had a smick paint job and perfect interior.

Had a 202 with triple 45mm webers.

It had a JP block that came with the car. I have no idea of the type of block fitted to it. But I know it was not a JP block.

I purchased a new SMP XU-1 from Shack Motors in Fremantle in April 1972. the cars original Motor was JP 111555. I had dragged the vehicle at Ravenswood in 1974 and blown the motor. it was then fitted aith a new short motor. The car was sold in Geraldton around May 1975 to Drennam Omalley motors and I know was then purchased by a local. Does any one have any info on the possible whereabouts of this car. I know a long time has gone.. The right guard was in a slight bingle and repainted, but the match was not a good one. the new motor had a very short engine number (and the new short motor was purchased from a ealer called City Motors) and it was someting like NL 4520. but I cant be real sure

I believe the vehicle was made in Adelaide.
I would love to know if this vehicle has survived??

your JP111555, on the Warranty PSN Disc comes up as a 1972 LJ XU-1, that was Built on the 20/3/1972 and Sold by Dealer Number 857 on the 3/1972

All the press cars would have been assigned to PR dept Head Office or Sydney as this was where the main Office's were. The dealer code does not mean anything as the car was probably shipped direct to WA and registered there by the Holden Sales Office in Perth - likewise the Adelaide Press car were done by the service garage in Woodville. I do not know where the Perth sales Office was but may have been at the Assembly Plant.
The 000 is not a valid code as far as Holden is concerned. It is present because the computer required a valid code in that specific field of data, and to a computer '000' is a valid number as is '123'. The true dealer ID code has been concealed for some reason(or not know when the data was entered). The 'M' designation is for the zone that the vehicle order was placed through, not the zone the 'selling dealer' was located in. So the SMP GTR was ordered by M (Melbourne) not delivered to M.

hello i think this is the car that i am looking for......... if i am correct this is an ex racer owned by a lady in the old torana car club vic. raced at winton sandown and bathurst, also rallied for a period. but looking at the pics its missing the roll cage and twin fuel filler in the c pillar's.........can anyone confirm?
