I heared at some stage, the gov is going to bump up the tax on Gas, just had to suck everyone in with the gov grant to get gas first.Do you feel the LPG price is going to match petrol soon

Excise has already started on LPG. It will go up 2.5c/L each year until it peaks at 12.5C/L in 2011. This is still way less than the 38c/L excise they currently have on petrol.I heared at some stage, the gov is going to bump up the tax on Gas, just had to suck everyone in with the gov grant to get gas first.
The Krudd government was going to cancel the $2000 grant, but reconsidered when the greenies pointed out that LPG had a lot less CO2 emissions & it was better for our international trade balance.
LPG is definitely the way to go in Australia at 60-70c/L. We are totally self sufficient in LPG & its cleaner & safer. Even when the price does increase, history has shown that it has always been around 50% that of petrol, or less. With inflation it will one day be $1.00/L, but by that time petrol will be well over $2.00/L.
Modern LPG injection systems will give the same economy & performance as petrol, certainly a lot better than old Impco mixer systems. It can also be tuned to even give more performance because it has a higher octane rating.
One of my cars is a 1999 WH Statesman V6 on an electronic vapour (not injected) LPG system. Last weekend I drove to Cessnock & return & used $19.00 worth of LPG to do just over 300 km. OK, about 70% of the driving was on the freeway, but would you ever consider using petrol or diesel on a modern car with figures like that.

2002 VY, SV8 Auto, havent done a whole tank in one go yet, but the computer says I should get bit over 700Km on a tank.
Coming home from Rocky a few weeks ago, 550 kms, got 26 mpg, sitting between 110-130kph, by myself, couple of ports in boot, so not all that bad.
Did 3 trips in her around the 500-650 km's, 22, 25 and 26 mpg each time. The 22 mpg had about 150kms driving around the Sunshine Coast included in it ...
Both cars were/are real poxy around town. Doesn't worry me tho as I dont drive much when home. Filled up the SV8 after that Rocky trip 4 weeks ago and still got 3/4 of a tank left, LOL.

You'd better drive to Toranafest to test the highway consumption, Matt
