I was looking at mad max website about the interceptor and how to make replicas and stuff like that and found this

Posted Image

the fella that made the orignal nose cone that was used on the interceptor started his own business to make fibreglass kits.

Looks kinda weird but yar.

The website to http://www.madmaxmov...lack/index.html

The old Monza style fronts, havent seen those for awhile.

I do remember when they were all the rage though. ;)

Yep, very popular on panelvans in the late seventies/early eighties , only ever saw one on a torana, bit of an ugly duckling from memory.

I was only reading an old add for these last night :D I will scan it in the next couple of days. I remember quite a few hatches with the fronts. I think you will find these pre date Madmax the movie. There was a Trans-Am Pontiac kit availbale late 1977.

If my memory serves me correctly, Peter Arcadipane headed O/S to pursue career in auto design/styling. He is now a head designer for Mercedes Benz. He made a Torana hatch called the Taipan. It had the Monza style front, box-flares, and chopped off tail. Wonder if there's any of these about?

Cheers

The car was built for Repco as a repco parts demonstrator I think?

Cant remember what it was named? [Taipan obviously, sorry Monza]

I recall those squared off guards, the 30cmm chopped off the back
and that escort nose cone!!

Anyone else remember this as the repco car?

I just love that Monza! :spoton: You can certainly see a family resemblance between it and the Torana hatchback.

Cheers
