Can someone explain to me what the bands function in the trimatic and can you adjust it using normal tools at home?
Cheers

You CAN adjust it at home but it is a small adjustment and the amount varies with models and you can easily over tighten it and break something.
I find by the time you buy a gasket, filter and oil it is easier to pay a tranny shop the $80 or $100 and have them do it.

Do you know what are the symptoms of a worn or out of adjustment band?

Hows the fluid look?
Red or smell burnt and brown.

but first to second change seems to have become just a little slower/longer than it used to be years ago.
While I have done regular oil & filter changes in the past years I havent done band adjustments during that time.
So has me wondering.

Can't argue with thatMy tranny shop charges $90 for a trimatic, hardly worth me even getting the jack out.

Yes, very true, I'm convinced. Now I need to find a reputable Tranny shop in the Nunawading area.
Thanks.
