OK, I have searched the forum about this gearbox option and only Toranamat69 appears to have fitted one.

Has anyone fitted one to a LH/LX with the 308? there was plenty of talk but NO confimation. I may be in need of fitting one in the future but I shall not be willing to modify the trans tunnel.

I do not intend to rebuild M21's forever!!

($1,600=big bore = 1,400Kms)

No, I do not thrash them, it failed on a Sunday drive with the family. It appears it failed due to poor workmanship on top of the Aussie 4 speed 's marginal strength.

I was considering the W58 but they also appear as marginal with real V8 torque and the 2.6 diff will not help.

Any Ideas?

Cheers

I sell you a Tremec TR-3550 5spd, which will bolt strait up behind a 308 with a toploader bellhousing. I have to sell due to the new bellhousing i have don't fit my lc with the ls1 real good. They are good for 500hp.

Hmm, tempting Lakeside.

But short on cash at the moment due to the last gearbox build.

I will see how I go with that first.

Has anyone else fitted one (tremec TR3550) behind a 308 in LX and did the tunnel need mods?

Cheers for all the advice guys.

i spoke to mal wood about the r154 today.he reackons the shifter hole,is in the wrong spot, and has to be modified, for a lx torana.this doesnt sound right to whats already been posted, and i think i remeber some1 saying on the forum that they push u down the path to sell a box they make the most out of.i dont wana spend an extra $2500 for the tremec.i dont think its a $2500 better box if others have a r154 behind injected moters np

If you know the input shaft to the shifter position measurement for the aussie 4 speed.

There are sites that show the shifter position options for the R134.

work on around the 700mm mark, give or take.Thats bellhousing face to shifter.

Edit:read your post wrong, what i gave was the gear box length, may be useful for you anyway.

baron,

I have a customer that ha changed his mind on a drive line combo that I'm doing for him, its a healthy 355 stroker.

I've already got him a turbo supra 5sp & had the bellhousing spacer made & a BH 82 bellhousing, steel YT flywheel & a custom ACS clutch assy.

Now he wants to go auto ???? (softy)

I've got it all bolted up with shifter, theres an aussie 4sp with b/hsg & a normal supra that can have a bell housing bolted to it so that the shifter measurements can be taken, plus a new 6sp as well for comparison measurements.

Let me know how your G/box is, especially 2nd gear,,,,

Thanks for the offer Craig.

I have the engine & gearbox back in, just need to do the remainder but the whole family has been crook this week/weekend.

I will see how I go as next week progresses.

PS, know where I can get a NOS 2nd gear if I need it. :)

Cheers
