Moot, do you have a contact name and number for this well of good info?

With this chap being in NSW and I am in SA, I don't think I will ever have the chance of parking my car in his workshop and having him apply the fix for a fair $.

Will this require an engine out fix? I am not looking for hints as to what the solution is but what level of work.

Cheers

OK...We still have oil in the catch can after Noosa......leak down test is OK...its not there...must be a combo of hi volume oil pump...grip in the corners and associated speed...still does it if I hold 3rd alll the way but nowhere as bad. Builder and I are going to work on a fix....any suggestions would be great...come on you gurus...we have a few ideas...just need confirmation...PM if you like.

as i asked above, is there anything wrong in just plumbing it back down into your sump instead of it going into a catch can?

Cheers

Evan.

Can you swap the rockers so that the breathers are at the back, its under heavy braking that you are forcing the oil forward in the rocker cover out the breathers? Just a thought.

Evan, I think the problem with plumbing it back to the sump was the contamination of the oil from condensation etc.

Well this was a thought...tap in some ports at the lowest point..preferably the back...then straight into the valleyy...then have 2 breathers fitted to the highest point to a catch can. I am told L Perkins did this but the lower pipes were on the inside of the tappet covers.

Agree, I still think the new top breathers should be located at the back of the rocker cover too.

Howard...that woud be the lowest part on the top of the rocker cover...don't you mean the front? I read MickLX race car post but don't actually want to go to the extremes of pulling the heads and welding up the push rods holes to make them smaller...there has to be an easier way ...

Ok what I meant was the new breathers to be on the top of the rocker covers but towards the rear to get them away from any 'wave' of oil under braking. Much like your diagram.

See what your saying but I still have the problem with massive acceleration...which this mother is capable of...maybe in the middle would be better?..Then the oil passes under going up and down?

I was going to suggest mounting the outlets in the middle but you beat me to it

Why wouldn't the baffle design would have greater effect than repositioning the outlets?

Hmm if you can't stop it getting to the top, you need to drain it back quicker and I guess that is what you are hoping for with the hoses through the inlet manifold.

Mate, if you have 1-1.5 litres in the can, hows the sump level?

Have you seen my RC baffle change? Seems to be working so far but I am not doing track work.

7 litres in the sump total...no oil pressure issues....just need to keep it there.

used to have oil issues with my VK GRPA, ended up removing the high volume pump, Rory in your case could it be that your pipes to the catch can are too large making it an easier exit for the oil??

I thought they were intended to stop (well restrict or slow at least) any direct flow of oil so that even when there is a lot up top, less comes out the breather? If moving the catch can outlet reduces the amount of oil washing out why couldn't a well-placed baffle/splash guard do the same thing? (Serious question)

I would have thought cam chain oiler was somewhat important or does the chain get enough lubrication from just oil splash?

Thats what ive been told , cam chains are cheap compared to bottem ends due to lack of oil
