LC GTR Choke blanking plug

This seems to be one of the hardest parts to source. It is a small plastic block off plug.
It is used in the LC GTR as it doesn't have a manual choke.
Obviously it pops into the dash fascia in place of the choke control.
It is importantly different to the cig. lighter blanking plug.
Hopefully you can add this to your list.
I would offer you a sample but I dont have one. Hopefully another forum member can help.

Now I am confused as we are trying to make the choke cable for that model and the LJ.

As far as other model Toranas, i'm not too sure. There are plenty of other forum members who know a lot more than me. I only know a bit about the LC GTR as I've just completed a 'wheels up' resto.

Would be a good for anyone wishing to delete the choke on any of the C - J series.

Here are the original Parts catalogue listings.
Page 309 shows - No. 6 as PLUG -Choke control hole... Group - 9.743
Page 314 shows - Group 9.743 PLUG -Choke control hole... 'GTR' ... part number 2807005
The drawing is a little off compared to the photo in the car.
Hope something can come of this.

I need one of these too, also my 6/71 gtr has a wood grain insert on that lower dash, does any one know if that was original or not.

I found it I have a few questions
1. What is the difference between a GTR, 186X, 2600s, 2850
2. Did any model LC have triple carbies.
3. How big is the demand for these plugs?

The LC GTR 161S had a 2600S / WW II carby / auto choke ... requires plug
The LC GTR 173S had a 2850S / WW II carby / auto choke ... requires plug
I am not an XU1 expert but I am guessing the 186X was the LC XU1 and this HAD a manual choke for the triples.
My thoughts are most people with an LC GTR would need this part
a) because they dont have one
to replace a shabby one
c) as a spare
I think that any LC - LJ owners could use one if deleting the choke.
Hope this helps

Seems like no one is interested in remaking a plastic plug which could easily be resold for $50 minimum (you cant get em)
Beats me what logic lurks behind these decisions. Surely plastic is the easiest and cheapest to replicate> I hate to think the amount of money wasted on getting "other" repro parts "close" to original.
I am certain that upwards of 90% of LC GTR owners would need one and or purchase a spare.
Good luck with the search, and I'll buy 2 if you find some.
Cheers Dellas
P.S Les
I have an original HK - GTS - Monaro one if you are interested in re - doing these.
HT and G are different.
Slightly bigger than the LC GTR.

Tell him what theyr worth, how many would be needed and so on.. he makes things happen when others dont, it would be something he could look into
Worth a try

I am more than happy to look at getting these made!
A couple of things that I need...
A good original example to copy (I am happy to pay for it as well),
An idea of what models they were used in (we know LC GTR, but what other variants?)
a rough estimate on what people would expect to pay.
cheers

Well, after trying to track down a good example of the choke plug, which it seems that no one want to part with, it seems that this one is going to have to wait...
Which is a pity because we were able to source a nos lighter plug that was going to be produced at the same time.
Still, if anyone wants to donate one for the cause, let me know..
cheers
Mick
