Thought I'd do a quick recap from start (mid 2008) to 2013.

Bought it like this, as a non runner with lots of boxes and spare parts.

ss1.jpg

Wanted to get it looking like this and take it to toranafest 2009.

tothis.jpg

But only got it to this stage and it hasn't been to toranafest yet.

And finally in 2013, it looks like this.  Look out toranafest 2013. (only 4 years late but better late than never)

Didn't look too shabby in its gunmetal grey (?) but looks great now. Excellent job.

Thanks Howard.  I did like the gunmetal grey but the yellow looks so much better and its 1 of 1 made in that colour.

Look forward to catching up at the fest and I can't believe where the time has gone with this car.  I thought it would be a quick resto but I was wrong.

Well spotted.  I did put my personal plates on the yellow hatch and sold my white hatch to a mate about 12 months ago.Sad to see it go after 12 years of ownership but its gone to a good home.

Time for a quick update.

Had a few drives in my torana and just enjoying it but the last couple of drives I've heard a knock in the front right. Went searching and found the front right shock absorber was the problem  Could have fixed it myself but wanted to get the suspension checked, new front shocks, new swaybar bushes and wheel alignment.  Took it to Jim Hunters Suspension at Blacktown and the car feels so much better.   Here's a few pic's.

Are they removing the Nolathane sway bar link bushes?

No, those are the new bushes going in.  I've been going to the same suspension shop for over 20 years and never had a problem with their products.

As soon as the mechanic saw the light blue coloured bushes on the shocks and swaybar links, he just laughed and said there's your problem.  They just crumbled and cracked.

They just crumbled and cracked.

Hmmmmmmm..... sounds like a familiar quote from nolathane users also.

Just went through your whole thread...a long build, plenty of blood sweat and tears though a nice result. Did you manage to get to torana fest 2013, I was there, though didn't come across your car?

Yes I did get there in 2013 and yes there were plenty of blood, sweat and tears.  Nearly gave up a couple of times and very happy I saw it though.

Here's a couple of pic's from Toranafest 2013 and please disregard the 'A9X" stickers on the bonnet scoop.  Only did it for a 'stir'.  :stirpot:

Really nice car.
I like the sticker, BullitA9X has the same sticker on his car.

Thanks for the coments guys, much appreciated.

I did get the idea from BullitA9X and had the A9X decal made.  Best $10.00 I have spent on the car and got alot of people talking.  I put it on the car for toranafest 2013 and removed it a couple of weeks later.

I did have some fun with the chev engine but glad I've gone back to a 308.  It looks so much better in the engine bay and suits my car.

Cheers Mick.

Just read this thread from start to finish. Well done on a fantastic rebuild, the car looks a million bucks! Some great history too.
