Hi ,

This is another project that I have been working on

This one is a 1951 truck that I cut down into a pickup
running all Eb xr8 running gear, that I bought from the auctions
HG holden front end, even the eb power steer.
I kept the truck chassis and notched the rear to get it down lower
Truck when purchased

Truck chassis shortened by 2m with notched rear (note the double chassis)
EB XR8 Falcon disc brake diff ,Ford leaf springs.

Holden HG disc front with CRS kit to fit ford disc's

gemini booster and XB falcon master cylinder

EB falcon power steering rack and pinion

custom built fuel tank running the standard EB intank fuel pump

and how it is at the moment.Still needs a few finishing touches to get regoed, but it's passed 1st and 2nd tech

I reworked the guards ,didn't really know what I was doing at first , but I didnt like the truck wheel opening
and I couldn't get it any lower.I hammerformed up the new sections and welded them in.
heres the pic of before ,narrowing the truck guard ,I cut 45ml out of the width

and the new wheel arch panels
original wheel arch and new cardboard template

I kept the new panel in two pieces so it looked more like the factory guard

The rear panel really needed something put in there ,and as I didn't have anything to bend
around I couldnt do a rolled pan,so i thought that the straight one with recessed number plate and tail lights would be easy
this is the gap I was filling.ps I also widened my rear guards 70ml each side

This is the panel I hammerformed .By measuring the distance and working out the depth.I then measured a number plate
,and made a another hammerform .I welded this onto the back, in the centre of the first panel and cut out the excess leaving
a recessed panel for the number plate.I then cut out the tail light holes, curved some flat pieces around to make the right
depth .
These are landrover tail lights as the come in red orange and clear.

This is the look I was after.so by placing masking tape across the gap and fibre glassing from the back
,I bridged the gap.I put a edge on the guard at the same time and it bolts to the taillight panel and is very sturdy.

At the moment just finishing the exhaust and fitting the guages to the dash

So when will you be in Brisbane?? :D
Free food and a bed next to the torana!! :D :D

Please, please, get some LEDs or something to replace the Defender lights. I'm sure something flush mounted will look much better. Just my opinion, and I hope I'm proved wrong when the completion pics come through.

Grant..

I dunno..

I reckon the Defender lights keep the old school look.

LED's would look outta place IMO.

I'm not keen on the tail lights either but I can see a lot of work has gone into them. Is there a flush mounting round light that could fit there instead? maybe from a jap car or something similar to the vette style

I like the whole concept - buy a truck & turn it into an insane ute - AWSOME

 awesome work mate, that will be one cool hauler when done.
with the tailights, what about the bullet shaped ones that come to a point? i reckon would look good recessed but whith just a bit of the point poking out.
as others have said, please keep the updates coming :spoton:
