Sorry fellas a bit off topic but need some advice. My brothers Vl turbo is running hot. We took it round the area for about 10 min and by the time we got back the bonnet was so hot i couldnt leave my hand on it. The temp guage reads just before the 5th bar... 7 being the max and a red bar. It has brand new coolant and recent oil change. When the coolant wat changed i bled that little valve thingy on the top of the intake manifold. What can it be? is 5/7 bars reading way too much? also once the car is turned off i can here like a bubbling... sounds like something boiling at the back of the head? oil boiling? what the hell is it?

cheers

it may be as simple as a closed thermostat or as bad as a cracked head (which is common to RB30's)

its air bubbles.
fix it immediately or the head will crack.

there is actually 2 bleed bolts, one on the water neck(inlet manifold) and one up on top of the plenum chamber.

1.remove both bolts.
2.turn heater onto hot position.
3.turn the engine on.
4. with a funnel(i use a 2l bottle) pour water into the funnel(and into radiator) making sure the water level is always higher that the top bleed bolt.
watch the water coming out and when the bubbles have stopped install the bottom bolt.
repeat with top bolt
5.top up the water overflow bottle

do not stop pouring water in the whole time to assure the water level in the funnel has not dropped below the height of the top bleeder bolt

so there is air trapped in there at the moment? there is not crack yet?
ok ill get cracking on it.. so do i take both bolts out and kepp filling making sure the water level is always higher? and once there are no more bubbles put the lower bolt in... then keep pouring more water and once the top one has stopped bubbline put the bolt back in that too?

cheers

As jap-xu1 said, dont forget to make sure the heater is on , in the hot position, its very easy to trap air in the heater core.

just finished getting rid of the air bubbles. Water level was kept above the highest point at all times and water was pissing out from both holes at a fast rate (solid stream). As it did this i put the bolts back in and filled up over flow. The problem is still there with it running hot... not sure about the bubbling yet havnt sat around to hear it... wat should i do next? thermostat?

cheers

check for bubbles again..if you have them its a head gasket or a cracked head.
