G'day All,
I recently purchased my LX SLR 5000 last Oct from Tassie. The letter from GMH states that it was one of the first LX SLR 5000's built as its build date is 02 Feb 76. It also came with an auto from the factory. The motor got rebuilt recently (330fwhp) and because of this a Muncie 4 speed & disc brake 9 inch was installed to handle the extra ponies. In some was I wish it still had the original running gear as originality is what most people are after these days - but I can always change it back later.
The car is a dream to drive & pulls like a 14 year old boy. It is excellant on fuel (about the same as a V6 Commodore) & gets looks every where it goes in Wodonga, Vic. Disregard the different coloured air cleaner stickers - it was like this when I purchased the car & will be rectified soon.
All I know about the car was that it built at the Dandenong factory & the person I bought it off (in tassie) only had it for 12 months & the person he bought it from was the 2nd owner.
I will try to make it to the Heathcote drags on the 18th March as I'd love to catch up with the you people & put a face to all the names.
I'm trying to chase down as much info & history on this car as possible & if anyone can help that would be great. The following info I got off the car's plates & the letter from GMH.

Model - LX8VD69
Body No. - 513120M
Trim - 1916-18X
Paint - 568-17777
Eng L31 Trans M40 Axle GU7
VIN No. 8D69TFJ513120X

Was the second owner from Melb? A mate of mine put one on the boat about 12 months ago, the buyer bought it unseen as I recall. He took me round the block in it just after he bought it and I'm still in a neck brace.

Wow, what a fantastic lookin' ride hux!!! That is one sweet Torrie, VERY VERY NICE! Even though it looks pretty original, there's just something about it that looks really different from any others I've seen before. Perhaps it's just the colour and the wheels which are really grabbing my attention. Whatever it is, I love it!

Great purchase by the looks, I hope you enjoy many great cruises in that beauty!

Cheers,
Brett.

Great looking car HUX, just love the stock look.

Are you going to factory it? ie. put original rocker covers on etc?

How is the interior?

Its cars like yours that people will look at in the future
and say " isnt it great that this was never modified."

Having said that, I'm now looking at buying a second hatch
that I can go crazy on!!!!!!! One original, one nuts.

See you round.
