Very original looking hatchback; dark golden with coloured stripes down side; bog stocker, old faded paint, looked like it needed a good wash.

4pm today in Lewisham, headed down Canterbury Rd went under the railway bridge toward Leichhardt.

It went across from right to left as I was approaching the intersection; by the time I put on the brakes as I approach the red light, get my phone out; Gone!

Just about all the cars I spot are from the driver's seat.

It was a 4.2 as well.

And the Australian flag flying in the background. It is a pity that there are no other Aussie built cars in that photo.

Or is that a Commodore that you took the picture from Aaron?

Looks like a giant millipede.

Is that that dodgy 5000 that gets discussed here regularly?

I notice the doors aren't 5000.

I'm not sure on the car, I didn't get to see it in the flesh, was staying down there with friends and they saw it and took the photo to show me. And I think its a python.

I grew up in Milton/Ulladulla and I've seen that car around a lot, I believe the owner lives in a a small town just out of the area (I won't name it for his sake).
As for the car, the consensus from all the locals (some who know him and lived on his street) is that it's a look-a-like.
However, I think it's irrelevant, as it's a tidy car and it sounds great running through town.

He does make a point of saying original SLR on his sign, but I did think that could mean it was a 6cyl SLR , either way it's not very original with vn heads top loader and 9 inch, but agree it probably sounds good and goes well

Yeah, you could translate 'original SL/R' to mean 'authentic LXVD69' but he conveniently leaves out the word replica after SL/R 5000.

Nice car; I'm sure it's fun to drive around.

Honestly, the fact he's done such a neat job of building it up, and it's been around as long as I've been there. He deserves a pardon. If he was saying its a 5000 then that would warrant criticism. I'm just stoked to see them on the road at all at the moment. Breaks my soul a little bit every time I see a good one turned into a drag car these days.....
