Someone tried to tell me that Walinshaw owns the licences for a bunch of teams, I was under the impression this was NOT the case.
I thought Skaife, atleast on paper, owned HRTs licence

Anyone else of the opinion that Tom Walkinshaw and Bob Jane, are, and could further destroy motorsport in this country? Both are money hungry, ruthless pricks, with no passion to keep motorsport running in this country unless there are plenty of $s in it for them. Yet I bet if you ever asked them the question, "where did it all begin?", they would both say they came from humble beginnings and started with nothing. How quickly they forget.
I would suggest you visit Calder Park and talk to Bob Jane before you tar him with the same brush as TW.
Bob is very big on supporting grass roots motorsport and is able to offer a cheaper way into motorsport than what cams do.

I do feel sorry for Skaife, but dont you think that before going into a venture like this or into business with someone like Walkinshaw you would do a little research?

I agree that both have done a fair bit to harm motorsport in this country.
CAMS are no inocent angle either.

Bob supporting grass roots motorsport? That the funniest comment I have heard all year, and the year has almost finished. Perhaps you need to visit South Australia and try to organise drag racing here? Do you even know the last time we had drags in this state? One man and one man only is responsible for destroying it in this state and thats Bob "Farkwit" Jane. If you have ever been to Adelaide International Raceway, you will see it's like stepping back in time to the 70s, nothing has changed all because Bob is too tight to spend the money, but when some other guys get together to build a new venue, Bob has a cry to the gov about it. Ask any one from SA who is into motorsport what they think of Bob Jane, the expletives might change but the response will always be the same. Anyway, Im getting off topic now.

Everyone has their own limits...crumpledoor, you have described where you think Bobs limits are...
Where are yours? would you keep injecting money into a sport that returns nothing to you? I have heard your opinion on Bob and it is an opinion echoed by many, untill they look into the FACTS. I won't go into lots of detail case it is off topic and could go no for a bit, but I will say that Bob is as much a victim as the motorsport community is.
If you want to direct anger for the countries lack of motorsport infrastructure at someone....
Direct it squarely at Tony Cochrane.

Kelly gang and Larry will form a new four car super team, with Rick, Todd, Jack and one drive up for grabs (someone with a fat cheque book), with Larry Perkins chassis and engines.
You heard it first here

Cheers

The original Skaife deal was done in 3 minutes if you all recall to unload GMH of a hidden ownership of a current race team...it was all a paper shuffle to distance them from having direct involvement as a manufacturer in the sport..or owning a team..HSV was ..on the surface ..found a new owner...HRT also...no money changed hands I am aware of..certainly if you go back and read the reports..Skaife didnt have the dollars to buy HRT...personally I think the whole thing is a sham...it's final outcome was blueprinted years ago...Tom was exactly what GMH was looking for...now..lets step up to another plate..wonder who runs/owns HSV imports for Europe??..Give me a hint????
On AIR and Bob Jane...I would be the first to turn the tap of dollars off on a complex that was losing me about $5M a year as well......if the paying public doesnt come...how the fark does that be seen as destroying motorsport in SA??

Ahh yes, Bob Jane, the man who tipped millions of his own capital into spectator sports that have over the years provided little or no financial return to him....
I must admit I havnt looked at it from that point of view, and of course it makes sense, but why would he seem so opposed to anyone else building or even buying the track to make it into something useable?

I would guess that Bob thinks he has hung in long enough that he should see some return on a lifetime investment, and that by letting someone else in the game he is cutting his share price in half.
Also he is wise enough to know that if he were to sell up it would most likely go to the developers, and that will help none of us.
Cheers Greg..

Greg, not sure where you get your info, but somethings I have heard and not just buy a couple of people but a lot of folks here in SA:
He has tried to sell it a couple of times, only to take the deposit and run.
Not only that but you cant develop that land, its built on top of an asbestos dumping ground from the early years.
And come on, honestly, if you are loosing the sort of cash you have mentioned then you would not continue with it. Where do you get your numbers from Greg?
