hey, seeing though it seems that the hypers i was gonna use wont' last to long with nitrous, i have been considering forged pistons. this owuld probably be good cause i could get dishies to drop the comp a bit instead of running a thick coper head gasket like i was gonna. currently got 12:1 so gotta get it down a tad for pump gas.

all i need to know is what brands make forgies for a 202, and what is a rough price???

To my Knowledge no one makes forged pistons for a holden six, so if you want them you need to use 253 forged pistons which have a slightly different pin position or are a taller piston or something like that and require cutouts for valve clearence.

This may be incorrect but is what i have been told.

Cheers Matt

cp pistons will make you a custom forged piston and they are market leaders.

Just use ACL HQ racing pistons. These have about 10mm on the deck and I've pushed 500rwhp thru them in my Turbo 6 and pistons are fine. Other guys with turbos have used them with no problem also.
A set of forged pistons will set you back $1800 and are just not needed IMO. Probably $700 for a complete ACL reconditioning kit with gaskets pistons and bearings

Obviously the HQ ACL pistons are cast? Any dis-advantage in using them in a "street only" engine?

yep, i have acl hq racing flat tops. they have fly cuts though and im wondering if they will cause me troubles, where the machineist did it they took some out of the top ring land.....in one spot on each piston its down to about 3/4 the thickness.....suppose we'll see what happens :P

It seemed that nobody had any issues with the ACL HQ pistons so I got a set with rings for my 202 for around $320 I believe. I got the ones with 2.2cc dish, planning to push through 15psi at most.
