With the exception of the E48's, all the Vals from VF onwards had the Borg Warner 2 pinion diff. The E48's had a Borg Warner diff, but was completely different from the others - it was a bit of an experimental job, and is visibly a lot bigger, and all ran 3.27 gears. They were sometimes called Danas, but they weren't - the Danas are a US diff.

Most are 2.92's. Some 3.23's and 3.5's around, but they are pretty sought after.

Could be an LSD if its a ute, but old enough that most of them are worn out

You are much better off with a VN onwards diff, cheap as chips, 4-pinion 28-spline & disc brakes.

The old Valiant diff although still a BW, will be even wider, 2-pinion, 25-spline & drum brakes. Not worth the effort.

The tag should be on the right side of the diff hat, if it is still there. It will have the ratio on it, as well as the part #. If it is the original diff with the car, then it will possibly be 3.5 or 3.23 as the utes tended to use those. Again, if it is the original diff, and is a LSD, then the compliance plate on the plenum will have stamped in the options D52, D53 or D56 depending on the ratio. Otherwise, jack the rear and see if the wheels both spin the same way. If you want to sell it, advertise on www.moparmarket.com You will get rid of it fairly easily if it is 3.23 or 3.5 gears.
