The AU fans do look the goods and that's on the one-day list. At present I just have a couple of cheapies, I figure that at least if I have two fans they can't both die at the same time! Get a decent thermostat though

The AU fans have a full shroud so they pull air thru the whole rad

A big single or duals with no shroud do not

I'd go AU's
They can be wired together or individually to turn on and shut off at varying temps

PWR fit SPAL fans. I suspect your fan will be a 16" curved blade part #30102048 ( EF3534 ) rated at 2350 cfm or possibly the SPAL extreme #30102113 (EF3634 ) rated at 3000 cfm.

http://www.spalusa.com/

You can buy SPAL fans cheaper from REPCO than from PWR.

I have 2 x Derale 16925 fans rated at 2200 cfm each. The motors are Bosch.

I was planning to mount the fan on a shroud aswell i was mainly after feedback on the brands listed i now that they all seem to vary in how much cfm they pull thru its going to be manually switched anyway just after feedback from anyone who has used them

A9X-yours is a pwr one hows would u rate it im taking a guess that its roughly 16inch what sorta price r they?

Some fan manufacturers make dubious claims about their performance. As a general rule of thumb a fan should draw around 1 amp per 100 CFM. You will note that the Derale fans draw 23.4 amps for 2200 CFM. The SPAL fans also follow the general rule.

Permacool however estimate their 16" fan #19115 will produce 2950 CFM drawing only 9.5 amps. :spit:

Now as for working in this industry which i have done for many years, these are my thoughts.

Spal - great producers of fans
Davies Craig - 1 of the best in the industry
Ice - cheap crap

AU Falcon fans are still 1 of the cheapest ways to go & most effective

I thought the idea of the AU fans was that they require little to no butchering?

if you go twins... do not wire them together, use a seperate relay for each, you can have them on one switch if you want. I use relays with fuses built in.

Hey Dennis.

I rate it pretty high.

Alloy welding is excellent, fit and finish was spot on, it bolted up without fuss.

The car holds between 90 and 100 degrees regardless of how hard i push it, I got held up in a line at the end of last years targa at the end of the day, it creeped to just over the 100 before the run, and by the end of the run it had pulled it back to the 100. by the time we stopped, threw helmets in the back and got a k or 2 down the road it was back to 90.

I don't run a shroud and haven't blocked off the airflow through the radiator like i probably should. I am playing with undertrays but can't say it has made any difference.

There are a number of things i wish to change on the car (are we ever finished) , but the radiator isn't one of them.

Good luck,

I have both AU fans and Spal fans. both work awesomely.

Fans in both my cars are controlled with just a tridon temp switch (with relays of course). (You can get them in various temp ranges and threads)

Doesn't take much effort to modify the shrouds on the AU fans or make a shroud like I did for the Spal fan. Posted Image

Ive been eyeing off the Spal Fan Controllers,I can find no distributer of these in Australia though and are Expensive: anyone know if the SPAL Controller will work with my AU FANS??:still havent sorted out my AU FAN wiring yet either! the sparky the wired them up did it wrong and they come on when trying to crank the motor if the Collant temps hot.

The AU Fans draw heaps of power!!,its very noticeable when driving along and they start up= maybe my Alternators not big/good enough( standard 308 alt).............
