I was hoping someone would know the diameter of a DR70h14 that came standard on an A9X -I think they about the equal to 195/75x14.

What tyre sizes would I buy for 15 x 7 and 15 x 9.5 rims that are the same diameter as the standard tyres? I'd like the fronts to be about 205 or 225 and the rear to be about 265 or 275.

I really want all 4 tyres to be the same brand. Any advice on where to get these in Sydney or thereabouts?

Todays equivelant of a DR70H14 is a 195/70R14. These have a diameter of 628.6 MM. A 205/60R15 or a hard to find 245/50R15 would be closest.

Try Milperra Tyres, ph: 9792.2999 ( ask for Rod, tell him that the guy with the Green L34 Torana sent you ) :spoton:

How did you work out that 628.6mm is the diameter? Is it a formula or do you have a chart?

I want to go for a slightly bigger rear than 245 - I've got 245's x 14 on the rear now and they aren't wide enough! I've also got 245's on the front and they are too big, they scrape on the flares. That 205 sounds perfect!

I reckon 275 would look better from behind if the sidewall is not too high - like a 45 or 50 series.

Does anyone make a 205/60r15 and a 275/??r15 in the same pattern? I'd love something that looked a bit 70's, BF Goodrich or whatever.

I had a 235 wide tyre on a 8" rim that didn't scrape on the front with flares. Changed to 225 so that steering was easier when parking.

Using different diameter rear tyres will affect your speedo accuracy.

I found some specs on the original DR70H14 tyres today. The diameter I posted was for todays equivelant 195/70R14. The actual diameter of a DR70H14 is 625 MM.

JBM, Yeah, my tyres are 245/60/14 and they are too high and that is why they rub.

I was told by a mate in the tyre game that they where the same height as the standard tyre - but they are 650mm high. 25mm higher (thanks Chopper) than the standard tyre. No wonder they rub on the front guards when I turn as they are 50mm wider and 25mm higher!

I also googled 'tyre height calculation' and found a UK website - http://www.tyresave....k/tyresize.html - that works out the heights of all different combinations.

Also, I don't mind a higher rear tyre. My cars got a 3.08 diff now instead of a 2.60 it came out with, and I'm more interested in the look from behind than the the right tyre height. A tyre about 625mm high on the front is good (205/60r15 is 627mm high) and a rear about 650mm is OK for the rear (275/50r15 is 656mm high).

If anyone knows if I can get a 205/60r15 and 275/50r15 in the same brand then let me know.

I have got the original service letter that got sent to all Holden dealerships dated the 1 August 1975 for the L34's. The type is DR7014 Blackwall Radial Ply with a rolling circumference of 6.3768 ft (1.9636 meters).

I've got that too. That's how I came at a diameter of 625 MM.
