Hey everyone,

Just wondering what is involved in rebuilding a worn out Banjo LSD and what it should cost? Also someone or somewhere that would do the job?

Cheers Matt

i was quoted $350 for my single wheeler, so i recon $450-500 for a lsd. just a rough guestimate.

Rebuilding a worn out LSD.

Well to start with gears, cones and carrier halves are no longer available. So if any of these parts are shot so are you.

However if the gears and cones etc are reasonable, there are some machining tricks that can be done to add new life. This will involve using increased width spacers between the cones and gears.

A good diff workshop should be able to do this machining and set up correct loadings on the cones. There could be as much as 8 hours work.

8hrs @ $50/hr would be around $400

+ spacers & machining may add $50 more

So between 4 to 5 hundred is a good start.

One of the tricks I have heard is to get the cones welded and then machined to the correct size. I guess you could also do this to the carrier halfves if they are shot as well
