Sounds like the reaction disc in the booster.

Apply your brakes hard (stationary not driving) and slip your foot off to the side so the pedal comes back quick. Do that a few times and see if it helps.
From memory something in the reaction disc area sticks if left sitting. Obviously this a temporary fix and I am only suggesting this for the sake of diagnosis. Best to have the system checked.

Not out of the booster
Look for it here
When the master cylinder is pulled forward to replace it the rod may come forward with it and the disc falls out of its hole
Then when you put the master back you have excessive travel
When you drive after the travel you have touchy brakes.
Pull the master forward...... remove the front seal and pushrod
Shine a torch into the booster. If you don't see a rubber disc in the centre of the booster this is your problem
Go buy a new one and refit it into the booster
To refit it put a dob of rubber grease on the fat end of the rod..... to stick the disc to it while you put the rod back in. Don't use normal grease or petroleum based products or silicone to do it.
