hey chaps
just changing my front wheel bearing as it shat itself. Question is how tight do i do up the center bolt? i was told to tighten it all the way till its nice and firm and then go back half a turn and slide pin in? is that right? or maybe tighten and then loosen 3/4?
cheers

New bearing?
Tighten until the movement "just" goes when rocking top and bottom of wheel.
Then tighten to next split pin hole.

yes just about to put new bearing in. So i tighten till theres just a touch of slack in there... enough to rock it up and down very slightly and then tighten to the next hole. Sound right?

Yep! "Just" gone.
With worn bearings sometimes the rocking doesn't stop no matter how tight. These bearings should be replaced. Hope this helps for later reference.
