Hi Ryan, its getting there slowly but i hit a nasty spot last week and im not looking forward to attacking it but hey its gotta be done, im almost finished the engine bay but i had to split a seem open on the left iner garud were it meets up with the inner floor pan cause i spotted some rust in between the seem so that wasnt fun but its all clean now and clamped and plug welded it all back together :<_<: i see you have a hatch to i looked and looked but just couldnt find the right one for the right money so i had to settle for another sedan. anyway it would be good to meet you and hope to see ya car on the road mid august :spoton: do you have a thread going on here in the members plans and projects ??? as i dont think i have seen it yet ???

Hey Kids just thought i would post up a bit of an update to where im at with the construction of the LX, i have now made my way into the inside of the car and started poking around  found a little rust under the dash where the heater vent is but thats all and yesterday i picked up the transplant victim that will power the Torana although the motor will get ripped to bits and some nice go fast bits will be going into it :3gears: but thats a little bit down the track yet anyways here are some pic's of the transplant victim and it all seems so familiar as i have aready owned one a few years back, its a VNSS 5 Speed Manual, LSD and all with a little hit to the front gaurd and only 167,000k's on the clock so im pretty happy and i picked it up for 3k which isnt to bad i guess, oh yeah the pic's :spoton:

Something doesn't quite match up on the pictures. The date is out by nearlly a year and it looks like it was taken at the old wreckers in montegue street in north gong or it's from farrels in dapro.

Either way it will be a very nice car to drive when it's all said and done.

Nice score Lee, should go good in your Rana. Almost makes me want to fit a T5 to mine. When do you think you'll start pulling it apart?

Just a quick update to where im at with the Torana, wel i fininshed ripping the VNSS apart and sold what i could of it to make some money back and now it has gone i have the Torana back in it spot and i have been making a new radiator support ot of 2 stuffed ones, a big thx to Matt ( LH SLR 3300 ) for giving me his old one that still had the bottom intact but i needed to replace the left light bucket so i had to make sure i got it right as i only had one go at it other wise it would be stuffed so here are some pic's of my progress but still gotta tidy up the lower section but there isnt much in it so wont take to long to sort in out, here are some pic's.

here is mine and Matt's um i guess you know which one is the good one....... the one at the top Posted Image
Posted Image

after standing there for an hr and marking it out with masking tape so that i knew i had it right i started cutting
Posted Image

i clamped both sections on to the car to get them square and tac'ed them together
Posted Image

then it came back off again and i started welding it together, the wife snapped this pic of me the sneaky shit she is Posted Image no wonder im blind look how close my head is to the job Posted Image
Posted Image

the new light bucket all welded in and smoother off ready for a quick hit of etch primer before i attack the lower section, im not at all happy with my work but it will have to do untill i come across another support that only needs a touch up here and there Posted Image

ready for the etch primer
Posted Image

and here it is in etch and it still sucks ass Posted Image but hey i guess i shouldnt complain as i might not even have one at all and could be waiting for the next 12 months for a good one lol
Posted Image

also thought i would chuck these in while im here, its the loom out of the VN that i need and a pic of a massive ball of wires from it that i dont need.

under the dash of the VN Posted Image
Posted Image

the loom i needed
Posted Image

and the massive left over ball of wire that could run 5 more Torana's Posted Image
Posted Image

as soon as i get this slab poured for my entertaing area i will be able to hook right in to the Torana more pic'a to come soon i hope Posted Image

Wow! That is a lot of wires!!!!!!

At least you wont have to buy any wire for a while.... You got enough there to last a lifetime!

^^ Yeh, the amount of times i have gone "shit, i need like 150mm of yellow wire" or something like that and only had red or black has driven me insane! So i don't throw out any good condition wire anymore, just chuck it in a box or something haha

thx mate it wasnt the greatest job and because im useing both relay and fuse blocks out of the commodore to use in the Torana i had to watch what i was cutting, but i guess it will be a lot better than the old glass fuse block ( i hope )

You are to hard on yourself that repair looks awsome! and it is going to be behind the nose cone so your not going to see it anyway if it were up to me the support would probably look like swiss cheese i take my hat off to blokes with your skills.

Ah glad to see you've got some progress pics up Lee Posted Image & that motor on the stand in the background looks horn Posted Image Mate, I think you're being a bit too hard on yourself with the quality of your cut & shut on the support panel, it looks fine to me. It looks to have been a real tricky job, but you've done very well. Job well done. We are our own hardest critics though. The paint finish on my engine bay is still playing on my mind. I may be too embarresed to open the bonnet if it ever makes any car shows Posted Image Keep up the good work & keep the pics coming.

Cheers Matt

hey all jsut some more pic's of this arvo's effort and some help or advice from someone would be able to tell me if there is something that i may have done wrong ??? its a 304 going into a LX, i have changed the sump to HQ and the engine mounts and brakets to Torana ones ( V8 SLR/A9X ) the motor seems to be laying back towards to the firewall but the T5 manual seems to be sitting nice and plumb, also even though im not using the manifold of the 304 i will be going with a harrop manifold, but the fuel rail cover on the left was hitting the firewall so i had to take the off to get the motor in..... anyway here are some pic's i toook so maybe there might be someone out there that can shed some light on this problem ??? ( the motor and box is only a dummy sit for now so that i can cut the hump for the T5 stick and line a couple of other little things up ) thx in advance Posted Image

motor going in with the fuel rail covers on Posted Image
Posted Image

here you can see how the motor is laying back and i have left a 40mm gab from the top of the box where the shifter is to the top of the hump.
Posted Image

heres another shot, surley its not ment to sit like this ??
Posted Image

a front shot Posted Image
Posted Image

and a bit of a close up
Posted Image

any info would be good at this point in time Posted Image just an after thought but is the K frame from a 173/202 different to 253/308 ???
