LX 5.0 Decal ????????

Hi All,
Quick question, as most of you know I have an LX SLR 5000, and I am planning to do some little tidy up things over the winter period. I was wondering did the LX's have a 5.0 decal on the air cleaner lid and if not what did they have. I seem to think they may have had nothing but I am unsure..... :huh:

The LX had two transfers. One reading GMH the other 5.0 LITRE.
Rare Spares have them but they are hard to find on the site. Product code 92002025 for the 5.0. LITRE sticker.

You are right the search engine doesn't even work witht the part # you gave me and I can only find LH ones.
Does anyone have a photo of the LX decals so I know what I am looking for please??

Mine is original....never been touched, was I jipped as I only got the 5.0 sticker????

Mine is original too, but the original owner told me a mechanic removed the decals in the early eighties and told him to run the lid upside down for better air flow, and he could not remember which decals were on it.
While we are at it which black do you guy's recommend for the air cleaner, Flat, satin, gloss or matt. Which is closest to the original black mine looks like its a matt black but then its 29 or 30 years old.

I have recently repainted one and used Power Plus Black Engine Enamel. They make a flat as well but im sure i used just Black engine Enamel. I painted the bottom end of the motor with VHT gloss black engine enamel but this was too shiney IMHO for the aircleaner. Auto Pro sell the brand.

I will write all this down and when I am ready to go in a couple of months I will be all set :spoton:

My motivation for this tidy up is that I had it judged recently and happened to win a trophy for Originality, I had never had it judged before and want to keep it original-unrestored as it is but want to tidy a few things up and I enjoy working on the old girl.

LX DO NOT have a decal. That decal was made for HX , the GMH one is for a 6. The aircleaner on LX 4.2 and 5.0l should be plain black.

Mmm Always thought it was an A9X thing (weight saving

) I had a quick look and agree all of the early test reports dont have the decals. Relying on memory again , could it have been a later model inclusion like the TORANA decal. Strange the HX got it but not the LX. Perhaps the dealers had a fetish for them?

I always wondered why too, but yep, they didn't have them on Torana, and if you fit the GMH one you will see it's the incorrect size.
