Hi all

Trolling Ebay a couple of weeks ago and came across this;

GMH Facts book from September 1976.
Posted Image

I thought is was an interesting keepsake and then I came across a few bits of information..

Posted Image
This page tells you that between Feb 76 and Sep 76, 12,464 LX Sedans and 5,267 Hatchback were produced.

Posted Image
This picture is interesting as it claims that only 2,580 were produced.

It would be great to have that kind of info for the LX Toranas..

cheers
Mick

Who knows...

What it also shows is that LX Hatchback production went from 5,267 in the first eight months (approx 658/mth), to 3,260 in the last 17 months (191/mth)..

cheers
Mick

I think that number is about right for the LH SLR 5000 and then you have to add a similar number for the LX SLR 5000.

Be wary of using the figures as gospel too. Example, it shows 600 x LE coupes. It's a well known fact there were only 580 of these. So other figures could be wrong too.

I worked at GMH in Dandenong when the Torana was in production and the average output was 300 cars a day

any chance of getting copies made of this little book? I'd be interested in photocopies even for the information contained...

In The History of Holden Since 1917 Book by Norm Darwin on Page 187,it says there were 8527 LX Hatchbacks made and 41,375 LX Sedans.
And 81,453 LJ Torana's made.

So only 8527 LX Hatchback made, you would think there might only be Half of that left by now,So about 4250 Left Maybe.

I know its an old post, >>>>>>>>>

But questions are asked about numbers name.
here's why:

It says from 2/76 to 9/76, 5,267 LX Hatch's built........

A little short or incomplete?

I don't actually know the numbers, but there has to be more, as stated abovr, as mine was built 8/77.......!
That is nearly 12 months after the date they've stated!

Anyone else notice that???!!
The brochure actually says September 1976...... hence number are only up to that date.

I would say that from 9/76 - 3/78 production of Hatchbacks slowed right down...

cheers

I may be reading it all wrong. But when was that document made? I mean it says March 1974 Built 2580. Could that mean there were 2580 built at the time of printing? Maybe more could have been built after??

Hi All,

Just noticed thread, and got me thinking, so after demolishing a couple of old boxes full of bits and pieces, come up with 1981 GMH FACTS,

here goes from Booklet - Under heading of Holden Milestones,

1974 - 76 LH Torana Total = 71,408

1976 - 78(77?) LX Torana = 41,375 Sedans, 8,527 Hatchbacks

1978 + - UC Torana/Sunbird = 53,007 .

As far as I know, these Booklets were put out for Shareholders in GMH.

Will get a Pic up if any interest.

Daveml.

Anywhere in that booklet have the numbers for LH 4.2 SL/R Sedan or are they just counted in the overall figure for LH's

Kudu, l'm thinking that March 74 relates to the public release date of the LH and 2,580 is the total production for LH SLR/5000 with the booklet being printed in September 1976.
