Some pics to get you started.

All GTR's & XU1's were 82911 series

Best use the search function to find out more and then ask questions to fill in the gaps. To search, click on My Assistant on the top RH corner of the screen. Alternatively have a browse through the posts and try to reply to an existing thread when you see a topic that interests you rather than starting a new one. Also try the links to some of the Torana clubs. They have good historical info on some of them.

If you want some measurements for the stripes let us know.
We also have a pinstriper who can sort you out (got the measurements off Kels car above).

The bonnet/boot stripes are Adelaide cars. Brissie cars don't have the badge on the boot either.

Whereabouts are you located?

G'day knighty

40X = black vinyl trim

11410 = Kashmir White exterior paint

82911C (LC GTR or XU-1) J2 (Melbourne) 22948 (number sequence to which this car came off the assembly line)

Engine bay should look something like this:-

Posted Image

Engine number should be 2600S##### with Opel box.

All LC GTRs had the side stripes and 6 GTR badges (front, back, sides & inside on doors) and the rally stripes were an optional extra costing $15 at the time the car was being made.

The stripes were painted on but mine are vinyl. I sell these on eBay but if you are getting your car resprayed then the painter should be able to spray them on as per original.

Great to have another LC GTR back onto the road where it belongs.

Regards............................Barry

I have confirmed the facts from a number of sources:-

As Barry said,
Side Stripes STANDARD
Side Badges STANDARD
Grill Badge STANDARD
Rally Stripe (This is the Bonnet/Rear deck, NOT the sides) OPTION

Brisbane Plant (Acacia Ridge) memo - Rally Stripe as option, but added Rear GTR badge as part of. Thus if no Option ticked, no badge or Rally Stripes.

Adelaide Plant memo - Rally Stripe changed to DELETE OPTION - ie. on all cars unless specified as no. Decklid Badge STANDARD

this is the pic of the underside of the bonnet of my old
5/70 GTR, Brisbane body, Sydney assembled (H6), it
shows the overspray when the rally stripe was applied
same appeared under boot, it had a GTR badge on the boot

Have you got a pic of lower down the bonnet with all the info that was sprayed via stencil?
I'll have to find the pics of the underbonnet of the LC GTR spotto-ed at the Scarborough Shell (WA).

Cool pic Grant :spoton:

Not too many people think of taking photos like that one.

I have only one comment to make and I will back it up at a later date and that is:- NOT everything is in BLACK & WHITE

I had been in contact with a ex-worker from Acacia Ridge (1965-84) untill his demise in September last year and Ron had told me that things were done at a frantic pace when the cars were being assembled and that there WERE MISTAKES MADE.

I will scan and put up his letter to me which is very interesting.

i've got some extra pics of the stripes somewhere, i'll dig around
and see what i can find, here's another thing the car had on it
the letters "CR" in crayon next to the hinge on the drivers side
could be a reference to the wiper motor code, considering this
car was assembled in the factory that was used to make HG's.
Don't know why i find this amount of detail interesting, i just
like to take note of any markings etc before they fade away,
it may be handy for someone in the future.
